I would like to say something about the last Presidential Debate. I think that John McCain acts like a broken record. And the debate that happened down in Tenn., he looked like a robot moving around I had to look twice thinking that it was something off the Star War Movie... LOL...

As a matter of fact, I did have an IQ test before reproducing. I also made sure that I wasn't overdosing on meds, smoking pot, shooting up, or getting drunk. I also attended all four years of college. I walked out of college with a four year degree. No my children aren't being watched by someone on drugs or alcohol and never would be. I am sick and tired of listening to all of the ramblings of pushing teachers to be drug tested. Do it and get it over with! As a teacher, I expect to see all of those sitting at home who are reproducing like rabbits and getting a check from the government to get off their rears and pay attention to your kids. Check their backpacks and help them with their homework. While you are at it, take a drug test too so that my tax paying money doesn't pay for your drugs. As for (me), you may want to check your own writing. I see that you have a few errors of your own! There are too many pots calling the kettle black. You have more of an effect than I do.

They should do random drug testing in all jobs, especially if you are working with heavy equpmnet, driving anyplace on work time, working wiht kids. They should random drug test all the daycare workers

Did anyone watch the debate last night? Anyone else find John McCain extremely annoying? He just does not listen…how many times does Barack Obama have to say “if you make over $250,000 your taxes will not increase” or “if you are currently happy with your healthcare plan you will not have to change it”? It feels like I am watching a child who just does not pay attention…he just keeps repeating himself.

I agree fully with having teachers drug tested, they have the students in their possession for 8 hours, therefore they should be as leveled headed as they can be, If you have a problem with the testing, then I say you have something to hide, so time will tell as to how many teachers are on drugs. Remember, if you don't do drugs, you should be A-OK with it.

Why are teachers and miners so upset about random drug testing? No innocent person has anything to fear, and those who test dirty, need to be gone. I don't want drug addicts teaching my children, and I don't someone who is high working next to one of my children in a mine. I would think those who do it all right, would welcome the opportunity to show the community that they are above reproach. Only thieves resent locked doors, and I believe only people using drugs fear drug tests.

Of course…blame others for your poor planning. If someone does lose their job you could draw unemployment (a whole other topic), cut back on unnecessary spending, and you should have been prepared with a savings to fall back on. If all this fails then bankruptcy is your only option…not a bailout. Yes, the banks SOMETIMES know when people can or cannot afford a home but in the banking industry, home loans are part of the BUSINESS not an act of kindness. When you go to a store, they do not turn you away because of the possibility you would not be able to afford what you want to …you should be responsible enough to know that for yourself. Some people are responsible buyers but most just apply for a loan and cross their fingers that they will be accepted and be able to make the payments.

To the ppl about mortgages. Not all ppl take on more than they can afford. Some can afford a mortgage but later lose their jobs because of our failing economy and thus lose their homes. And yes I hold the banks responsible also. They know when ppl can or cannot afford a home.

In agreement w/Ari - to some extent. What gets me is we trust our lending institutions to make sound credit decisions for loans. All loans. Instead many have been greedy by approving risky loans for property which is overpriced, selling the loans off to investors, making a profit and sitting back while investors loose when the loans are in default because the homeowner can't pay. Now we have to bail out these banks etc for their greed. Somebody made money by approving these loans. We need to go back to the point of origion and impose fines on institutions that approved such risky ventures. It is the American dream to own a home of your own, but I always thought you had to be able to afford it before they let you sign the dotted line.

just because their home lost value does not mean they did not agree to pay for it at the higher value. If anyone purchases a new vehicle the moment we drive off the lot we lose major value…some are already “upside down” is the government planning to help them out as well??? Ari, I agree...the reason we are all in this mess is because of the irresponsible people who bought (financed) what they could not afford. It is not the fault of the banking industry for these idiots should have known better! If you sign up to pay an interest only loan, obviously you will have to pay the principle at sometime and if you sign into an adjustable rate mortgage well then your mortgage payments will adjust and it is your responsibility to know just how much!!! I just cannot believe the government is going to help these people just because they are irresponsible. If I stop paying for my mortgage are they going to rescue me and “adjust” my home value? It is just unbelievable to me! The only FAIR solution I see is to refinance these people with a normal fixed interest rate for a longer period of time…if it takes a 50 year mortgage for these people to have an affordable payment then that is what it takes. They should be responsible for their own actions…
