I would like to complain about the lack of media coverage of Eastern Kentucky. I mean, how can the husband of the Mayor of Catlettsburg get beaten and mugged by a woman that steals his wallet and gives it to her accomplice who speeds away? She gets arrested by the police. This occurred Friday May 22 just before noon in downtown Catlettsburg. Why doesn't anyone cover Eastern Kentucky? We should put in TV Jammers and start our own NBC Affiliate because if you are not in Huntington or Charleston, you don't exist to WSAZ...well, unless you pose in Playboy. Hello working coal mining families of WV this is Big Earl with a suggestion to our own good Gov. Joe. First off, next time these hippies chains themselves to a bulldozer at the Patriotic or any other coal company, cant you please send the State Police (with vapor masks provided of course) to unchain them from the bulldozer and chain them up to a coal shovel and haul them down to mingo county Gilbert or the historic town of Matewan and get some use out of them? Remember people these bulldozers they are bothering are the very ones that are going to dig your grandmother a road where her bridge got washed out so she can go to the doctor. I do not see this zero bunch or the OVAC doing much of anything for anybody in WV except trying to run off there jobs. And another thing, they are running around with a bunch of shoes well hey tree huggers I know some people right about now who could sure use them boots. They say they are going to take these boots to a mine to protest but people of WV if you see one of these hippies give them an empty paper plate that will symbolize a family what has got no lunch for there kids because these do gooder greenies came to town to save mother earth from the evil coal miner and ran off daddys job so little jr. is needing lunch right about now.

I have a great idea how the city can make some money. Actually start giving tickets for traffic violations. We would all be safer and just think of the revenue. One police car could sit on 9th Avenue between 1st Street and 5th Street West and write tickets all day long. The posted speed limit in this residential area is 25 but people drive like it is the interstate and of course in 7 years I have never seen anyone pulled over for speeding.

Hey, You all should take some investigative news crews to Ironton City Schools. The students and staff have gotten way out of hand.Don't get me wrong there a some (very few) fine educators, but they need to get a strong hold on the kids. People are gonna be taking their kids out of the district. It's absolutely crazy all of the stuff going on. A kid hits a kid. Kid goes and tells. Teachers punish kids for telling. Kids are fighting everyday. Parents complaining and no one doing anything about the craziness. Parents really need to start complaining to the right people (State Bd of Ed). And it seems that if your kid is in the "in" crowd then nothing happens to them when they do wrong. It is sad to see these things going on. I just hope they can get a handle on things b4 they get into their new schools next year. Oh why you are at it, you might want to look into the Ironton Little League to. Some "fishy" things going on there too.

Have any of you people ever watched that show on TV where these hippies drive around in a boat bothering the fishermen who are engaged in the honorable pursuit of catching whales? Hello WV people whose jobs are also threatened by these same tree hugger hippie types this is Big Earl. Now people these greenie PETA types are not sailing around in a canoe singing row row row your boat. Some rich hippie has give these people that don’t have real jobs the money to sail around all day and night bothering people who do, and a camera to boot so they can film people trying to catch whales. Now whales have several purposes, one of which is that whale blubber can be wrung out for oil that can burn lamps and provide reading light for people in other less advanced parts of the world that don’t have coal mines and electric plants like John Amos. I say any captain Ahab is doing his country and people a service by trying to catch old Moby and reel him in. These hippies are nothing more than lawbreaking pirates and it don’t matter if you are trying to catch a whale or a chub down in the coal river they would try and harass you. Besides anybody that has watched a good pirate movie knows that whales try to wreck boats so they are fair game anyway.

Re. your "Reporting" on the story involving the ambulance service billing dispute with the Ohio auditor, I knew as soon as I viewed the footage of her you did not shoot it yourself. In addition to announcing that it was not your footage, you should have told viewers it was part of a "Video News Release" and explained to them what a "VNR" is. How they are used. And how they are sent to multiple media outlets. Which leads to a bigger question, should a "VNR" be used at all for a hard news story? Also, perhaps, should you have called her office and asked your own questions such as "Is your office appointed or elected?", and if it is an elected position, "When are you up for re-election?". As someone who has worked on VNR's, I know the are packaged to show a pre-determined view of a story or event such as a county fair or minor announcement, and have traditionally not been used for hard news. I do not beleive in the old days that this story would have gotten past Bos Johnson.

Can someone tell me why Pike County has no FEMA assistance yet?? Less than 1/4 from my home is WV. They have already had FEMA come in and have received monetary and other assistance. There are people here in Pike County KY with NOTHING and I do mean nothing. What is the hold up? Is it Governor Beshear or is it President Obama? We need to get this ball rolling and bring help in here. We are hurting Governor Beshear! If the WV government can take care of their people then the KY government should follow suit. This is just pitiful. If our elected officials cant take care of us, I think we need some who can!

Well you know I do like Ron Paul and hope for the best with him but realistically how much support did he pull in the 2008 election? He would be great, but barring something earth shattering, he will probably never be elected sad as that is. I give Clinton credit on this one, and Bush too, I think there is a difference between a mistake and a deliberate lie. Most are not so generous to admit it, but mistakes can be made without a lie being involved. What is scary, and mostly overlooked, is why were both men (and Kerry, Edwards, Rockefeller, Pelosi, etc...) all mistaked? Bad intel services. One mistake I think Bush made was in trying to be all touchy feely and nice he kept on most of Clinton's people; Clinton fired all the US attorneys, 90 some I think, Bush fired 8 and all torment breaks loose. He had holdovers in CIA, DIA, FBI, etc...that apparently didnt serve Clinton too well or him either. Are they serving Obama well? If I was in any of them, I would be retiring as soon as possible

just read a story about the mighty ohio and the little kanawha being so polluted you can't swim in them. it also said the epa raised the toxic levels for w.v. because the people didn't eat as much fish as other states. here's the good part- we have gotten used to the polution and don't mind it!Hello, who are they talking to? Here's the best part, who is responsible for all the mercury poisoned streams? coal fired power plants are for 75%. also coalslurries where they wash the coal is contaminated by heavy metals and the water that some clown pretended to drink is toxic. Hello good working people of WV this is Big Earl and I for one am glad that WV people have friends in high places, let Garth Brooks keep his in low ones. I am speaking of course about a story I saw on my favorite TV news about a certain coal company that shall remain unnamed due to not giving nobody the big head but some people deserve a shout out when they help there neighbors dig out of a flood. Which is what happened when some very highly trained surface mine equipment operators were loaned to help and used there talents to help there fellow WV people who got hit real hard in the flood. We also have a good Gov. to people I think when I see goofballs like Conan the Barbarian who got knocked on the head one to many times with a dumbell in Washington DC throwing in with tree huggers and hippies ruining the great state of CA into the ground and trying to turn the gas stations into starbucks hippie coffee houses and ruining the automobile industry and I contrast that with a Gov. what rolls up his sleeves and does the dirty work when needed and still finds time to fly to Washington DC and give what for to the EPA types when they bother our jobs well it makes me proud to be a WV person.

It didn’t have no electric, which means it didn’t burn any coal to heat it or cool it, and there were no flush toilets either you know the trouble with these hippie flophouses is they always forget something and this time they forgot to leave the sink faucet running on a cold night (to save all the scarce water no doubt) so the pipes froze up and busted and cost a bundle to fix. Theres your global warming tree hugger. Since the floor was made out of glued together weeds and recycled cardbord it got ruined to. Hey you hippies I have a nice out building I would sell you at a discounted rate of only a half million dollars it has one room I can throw the tools out and knock a hole in the roof and call it solar powered. These people don’t have no sense, it sounds to me like they want to take us all back to where we in WV were well over 100 years ago and people I do not call that progress. I like my lights air conditioning and indoor plumbing.

you know when I was a Kid the toll booths was suppose of pay for itself and that it would be taken out guess not since the toll booths are paying to have the roads fix on the toll booths what happen to the state of taking care of it.Now about the user fees in huntington I think it stinks because the roads wont get fix look it been what eight years plus, all they think about is hiring police officer yes I agree we need more police officers, but know more when they hire them they are letting them go ,because dont have the money to keep them on the police force so what make them think by raising the user fee is going to make any difference in order to fix the roads.

Caught in a web of half-truths, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi yesterday accused the CIA of misleading Congress about the waterboarding of top Al Qaeda terrorists. Her brazenness was a thing to behold. There she was, forced into admitting that she had been well aware the CIA was using the tactic after having insistently led the world to believe otherwise. Did she apologize for dissembling? Did she beg pardon for failing to be sufficiently clear in her statements? Did she plead that there had been a misunderstanding of what she knew and when? NO,NO AND NO NANCY PELOSI ITS TIME TO GO.YOU HAVE LIED TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.DO US ALL A FAVOR AND RESIGN.I FOR ONE WOULD NOT STAND FOR YOU RUNNING THIS COUNTRY EVEN IF YOU ARE 3RD IN LINE.MY BYRD I WOULD HOPE YOU ASK FOR HER RESIGNATION.

People of WV I would like to ask you a question: what is the state animal of the great state of WV? That’s right, if you stayed awake in WV history in the 8th grade it is the great Black Bear. Which leads me to my next point. If coal mining is really destroying the planet like these green hippies and PETA types claim, then how come we have so many bears in WV? If you don’t believe me just leave the lid off your trash can now that the frost is done. I mean all I hear from these tree huggers is how we in WV trying to earn an honest living and keep the country running decent are killing polar bears and penguins and other snow creatures up at the north pole. People the polar bear must be a worthless bear. What good are they? You know all truly great bears have been turned into cartoon characters to do some good for the public. Take the noble brown bear, Smokey, who teaches little children not to set the hills on fire. How about those three black bears who teach that little girl not to nose around on other peoples property? The only place I have ever seen a polar bear is on a Coke commercial and that is only at Christmastime. If coal mining was really killing off the polar bears and turning Tennessee Tuxcedos igloo into a slushee, then how on earth have so many bears lived here in prosperity for so long in such a honored status. It is simple to figure out if you have got any sense at all.
