Well people I believe the economy was destroyed this way in order to get the one world gov. started. Now the time is right for o to form his socialist gov. which by the way is going to be the new world gov. and tony blair is going to lead it. why is the gov. buying up all the major corps? There is a co. in virginia who's ready to start implanted micro chips in all the people.Mark of the Beast!! better prepare!

Hey Joe, lets not forget our "good neighbor" John Clark Oil when talking about the greed in the oil business. Thanks to our "good neighbor" this area continues to have the highest gas prices in the southeastern united states. How does an area sitting right on top of a refinery have the highest gas prices around? Ask your "good neighbor," John Clark Oil!

a few years ago ket,tv ran a program""a family undertaking""it was a wonderfull and enlightening program on burials in america.i wish they would rerun it again,i think people dont know about the control of your own destiny concerning the death and burial of loved ones.remember when your loved ones were kept at home till burial, and family members controled every aspect of of it.expenses are getting so extreme i think we,ll soon get back to that,,,and that may not be a bad thing,,,

Are you serious? Do you reall think more refineries and drilling is the answer? More refineries and drilling would be like putting a band-aid on a amputation. It would take 10 years or longer to bring 1 refinery online and to drill 1 new oil well would take 3-5 years due to exploration and permits plus getting the equipment on site and would still solve nothing. Gas would still be over $2.00 a gallon, OPEC would still control the production of oil, all the kids on Wall Street would still be betting on the future of that oil and the oil companies like Marathon would still be GREEDY. Does anybody remember hurricane Katrina when the high gas prices started? First the oil companies said they had to raise prices cause Katrina damaged the refineries on the Gulf coast, 2 years later they were back to normal operation. Did the price of gas come down? NO it didn't they seen that the American people would pay 2,3,4 dollars a gallon for it and so did the kiddies and banks on Wall Street.

finding a way to reap the profits at the lowest price possible and if that means killing the industry or the miner then so be it,just a few yrs back the big thing was synthetic coal and the big profits that went with it in tax breaks and money allotted in reclaiming the mids from old operations well guess what tell me what is synthetic about spraying diesel fuel on coal and some of these companies used good coal not reclaimed mids because it paid more because it was classified as synthetic just by spraying it and they still did not clean up the ponds and get the mids out just another way of avoiding doing the responsible thing and doubled the pollution in as when shipping the synthetic by barge when they needed to pump water from barges it was like pumping diesel fuel into the rivers so dont play into their game and talk them up to the kids of Wva because they are not their friends they are only going to extort them for years to come so break the cycle and secure the future of miners

Get a grip man.You state you are the coal miners friend so does Massey and Arch and Peabody and with friends like that the miners dont need any enemies,I think it is dispicable that these companies come in and spread their lies to impressional kids and you talk of the mushroom effect it has went on for generations and continues today.Have you ever been in a coal mine have you ever had a realative die of black lung did you ever hear of Buffalo Creek these so called tree huggers are not against miners they are against the companies of robbing the good people of Wva their futures which has been happening for years. All the companies have to do is clean up their acts whch they dont want to do and it is in the best intrest for future generations of miners and everybody else that works in the industry from mining the coal to shipping it to providing equiptment to mine it.Coal is the lifeblood of the area but the Friends of Coal are not the companies they only thing they are friendly with is

For the last 34 years my family has been the care takers of our family cemetary, none of the family of those buried there has even offered to help with donating gas or money for upkeep, I even had to repair several graves that was sinking the families didnt want to do it themselves, I work hard all year around to maintain the cemetary, when they only come once a year and stay 10-15 min instead of throwing their styromfoam in the garbage bags provided they leave it on the ground and when the wind blows it goes every were and I have to pick it up. This is very disrespectful and rude, my mother who had cancer and was a diabetic worked to keep the cemetary up before she died, and was always asked to make sure a certain grave was looked after and them knowing how sick she was, but did she get a thank you NO!! SO WHEN YOU VISIT CEMETARIES PLEASE PLACE YOUR TRASH IN THE BAGS PROVIDED!!!! ITS CALLED RESPECT TO THOSE WHO DOES ALL THE WORK!!!

I am the Grandmother of the little boy who got hit by the car in East Bank. That was Sunday the 24 of May, one week today. My grandson has not opened his eyes. The driver of that car was an illegal driver. She is a know drug abuser, had no drivers license yet she sits at home while we are at the hospital not knowing what is going to happen to Ty. When are the laws going to change where these people are punished for the pain that they cause when they make dumb discisions like speeding driving with revoked license and cause this much pain to someone like my 12 year old boy? this woman has not even been arrested.

It's a recession when your neighbor looses his job. It's a depression when you loose your own job.Nothing goes on around here, good or bad.So far the job loss has been minimal around here.If you look at the main employers you will see Marshall,Cabell and St.Mary's hospitals,Cabell county public school system and Walmart. These types of biz are more recession proof. The rest of the country is hurting. We didn't see the boom and we are not seeing the bust...yet.What the good people of West Virginia,as the propaganda people behind Big Earl would say, don't realize is we are always behind and sometime in the near future we will catch up.During the Great Depression of the 30's,WV.was one of the last states to enter the crisis and one of the last to get out of the depression.People around here see the news in California and think that will never reach here.It will.If you are not ready, you will suffer.Do you have food?Do you have water.Do you have ammo? What are you waiting for?Be ahead of the curve.

Thanks for all the feed back, I guess Im too young to remember the honeymooners and that Pow, was funny in those times. It just struck me as so violent. But then again, Ive never had to deal with men in that way. If anyone talked to me like that, I would start running and never stop, all the while bawling like a baby.

Posted by: Joe on May 29, 2009 at 10:15 PM
This is to the other Joe who posted his comment at 8:01 pm. I totally agree with you. The number one word for them is GREED. Read in the bible in the book of James what it says about rich men. You at marathon ought to be on a fixed income and disabled as I am. It is not easy to pay the bills and I have 4 in my family to feed. I hope everyone out there starts finding a way to get the message to the greedy oil companies and maybe, just maybe they will do something about it, but I doubt it. THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Posted by: Joe on May 29, 2009 at 08:01 PM
I hope everyone helps send a message to Marathon Oil that they are disgusted with their greed. Marathon's response of not delivering fuel to flood disaster areas while a price freeze is in effect, shows their true colors. We have all seen prices increases at the pumps before major holidays even when oil prices are stable. Does Marathon think we believe that if stock market prices go up today that the fuel that is processed cost more for that oil refined. Contined speculation and price manipulation is what helped drive this economy into to recession. Statistics showed that people drove less this Memorial Holiday so excess consumption is not a contributing factor. Let's work together and send the message that we are tired of being exploited.

Hello working people of WV this is the coal miners friend Big Earl. I heard one of the neighbors kids talking today about a special day of education they got at Scott high school about there coal industry and what it means to there families there town and there state. Turns out several of our coal companies including the patriot coal company whose bulldozers was recently assualted by hippie longhairs came out. It is good to see that our industries care enough about our kids to show up like this and educate them on the coal industry and really good to see that not all teachers has thrown in with the tree huggers and showing the kids movies accusing the coal miners of killing off wildlife and doing unspeakable things to the earth. These folks and businesses deserve a special shout out and thank you. These tree huggers treat our kids like that mushroom Travis Tritt sung about, they feed them tree hugger bull and would love to keep them and all of us in the dark for a good long time.

Diane... it has unfortunately become necessary for funeral homes to ask for a down payment toward services. If you have insurance, then there is no usually no requirement of the down payment. Check the percentage of funerals that go unpaid before you start downing the funeral industry. These folks work long and stress filled hours. Thank You.

Well hello again good working people of WV this is Big Earl you know people these hippie longhairs simply cannot think straight. One of these bunches goes by the name mountain justice, which if I remember right we got rid of when the constable and the circuit judge showed up in WV history and I don’t know nobody who wants to go back there again. Anyway, if Shaggy shows up in the mystery machine asking to paint your roof white don’t let him. These hippies are convinced the new way to save the world is to paint everybodys roof white and reflect all the heat back up to the sky. Trouble is, anybody with any sense knows that you have to use oil base paint outside which comes from coal that’s what I mean these people don’t think straight. Hows that for your carbon footprint tree hugger? You PETA people had better start hollering for Bigfoot rights because all your hippie buddies are going to leave a mighty big print on mother earth with all that coal based paint. Next thing you know they’ll have the health department condemming your property for letting lead run off in the drinking water. These people simply don’t have any sense.

I had the kids down at Ritter (Memorial?) Park (the one with the small play area by the Vita Course). There is a portalet (sp?) down there that must have been placed there over a year ago with no service since...........DISGUSTING! How can we get the city to replace or remove it? It's unfortunate there is a play area, drinking fountains, tables for picnics but no restroom facility. At the very least the City needs to REMOVE THIS UNSANITARY AND UNSAFE STRUCTURE!

I just want to comment on how unhappy I've been with the TV since the digital switch. We were watching a program about comedy catch phrases Monday night and the digital signal froze about halfway thru the show. For the last hour, all we could see was the Wayans Bros. This has happened several times since the changeover and makes me leery of starting a show because you may not get to see the end of it. I can't recall this happening before the switch. Did anyone get to see the end of the show? What were the top phrases? Is this problem in the transmitter or the cable company?

I also watched the "50 Funniest Sayings". I'm sorry I wasted my time, but was intrigued to relive some favorite TV moments. I never liked "The Honeymooners" because of Ralph Cramdens domineering personality. Looking back, it was a generational thing when men were always right and women had to make men think that a good idea they had was actually the mans idea in order for the man to accept it. Pretty cavemanish, eh? I'm glad that times have changed. Sometimes we still have to make the man think the good idea was his, but at least we are not so afraid to speak our minds for fear of being "powed right in the kisser". Going to jail for spousal abuse or assault is an equal opportunity offense. Real or perceived its not funny anymore.

Coal is KING, baby. These tree huggers are the reason our electric bills keep climbing. They make up this global warming crap, and force the power companies to spend billions of dollars on excessive pollution controls. Where's the proof? I don't think cars and power plants melted off the ice age! WV has the cheapest electric bills in the country. But thanks to these so called "experts" who are paid by sierra club and green peace to say we are causing global warming, we all won't be able to afford electric. I think it's flat out arrogant to think that we as humans are powerful enough to change nature by our ways of life. The only way we could destroy ourselves would be all out nuclear war. There's your real concern. Build more coal fired plants and keep the WV economy going!!!!!

You people have to drag everything down and can't enjoy anything anymore without a disagreement. Just enjoy something for a change and relax as the era it was in was a very funny thing indeed. Well first off Instigator why do you hate Germans? LOL That is what liberals always say to conservatives, just having a little fun. Speaking of, O's nomination of a radical constitution loathing incompetent for the Supreme Court is a good example. "Race" and gender politics. Spineless republicans will not oppose because of being afraid of being called sexist, racist, etc..and even worse toady democrats will fall right in line and saddle the country with this nightmare judge whose legal opinions have been overturned by the Supreme Court several times and are under review right now in a case. Sorry about that cRAveontruth.com. I will probably just use COT from now on since I have a tendency to mix up letters. I realize you dont agree with much but I heard Glenn talking today about the Fed and the parties you would have liked it and Rush was going over Sotomayer's record, stuff I havent heard anywhere else including your radio show. Hello good people of WV when somebody does something real good then I think they deserve a shout out and a nice letter or phone call to say thank you and I think such a person is our own Gov. Joe. People within two weeks of the flood water coming down in mingo county them FEMA people was all over the place running around writing checks and handing out bags of lime and bottles of water. It is nice to have pull like this with them people in Washington DC apparently our neighbors over on the McCoy side of the river in Pike Co have not been quiet so fortunate as we are. Another thing is my aggravation with these hippies running around well you never see any of them doing much of the dirty work just running around with empty pairs of boots that a lot of people could use on there feet right now. I say chain these longhairs to a good number 2 coal shovel and let them do flood cleanup since they want to help so bad. Has anybody noticed that the great tree hugger state of ohio where these people come from has a better than 10 percent people out of work rate and they want to come over here and run our jobs off next. Gov. Joe maybe you could sign one more bill to put up a roadblock and stop them at the border before they bring there jobless rate over here.

I hope Republicans continue to rebuke their own - like Colin Powell. Powell is a true conservative and the rest of you are RINOs. Conservatism does not equal verbal garbage attacks (which is the facet that is, of late, the most vocal). If you guys don't get it together, you are going to become a permanent minority party. I consider myself a member of the Democratic Party so perhaps I should be hoping for more of the same from RINOs. However, I believe our current times call for a constructive opposition party rather than a party that behaves more like a child who is a spoiled brat (whining, name-calling, and never happy with compromise - only wanting their way wholly because they'll just take their toys and leave if they don't get their way, with no REAL friends except for those wanting to play with their toys). Grow up Republicans. The times are too serious for gamesmanship.

I agree with you carveontruth people better get ready now while there is time before the human wrecking ball aka Obama swings into their lives and jobs. The new Supreme Court nominee is probably the worst in recent memory-remember Obama voted against qualified judges like Alito and Roberts and then nominates a total dud in his first try. Look at our sad country, the wrecking ball has gone through the steel industry in Ashland, the automakers, via govt. takeover; the dealerships, by telling the automaker to cut back on advertising budgets and close dealerships, in order to sell more vehicles and get out of bankruptcy; the coal industry, via radical cap and tax, er, trade legislation and finally the card check bill will finish off what is left. Oh yeah everybody and I know you will like this COT Rush resigned as head of the Republicans last week. He was appointed by the liberal media but passed the torch to a true Republican conservative standard bearer, Colin Powell. No hope there...

Big Earl sometimes I may poke fun at your posts and sometimes I do find some truth buried in all you B.S., but can you not see what the underlying problem truely is? In my opinion, the turmoil over "coal" is the very same as abortion, gun control, religion, same sex marriage etc... Neither party or its supporters will address any of these issuses with a COMMON SENSE approach. Let me say that again, COMMON SENSE approach!! And then, when you add $$ signs (as with coal) into the equation you can bet there will not be a resolution beneficial to any party other than the party to gain the most immediate return. (Emphasis on immediate.) I have been a Union Man all my life and I do support coal, but I am not so narrow-minded to think we can not improve things. I just hope the day comes when this country can mature enough to resolve issues like these. But I am not going to hold my breath, and I know your not going to hold yours either Big Earl.

Well you people in Kanawah county better watch your hubcaps. I seen these tree hugger hippies with a bunch of shoes on the news one of them even had a pony tail. You know people while I watched the channel 3 news of the flood I never saw a single tree hugger shoveling mud or helping out with the flood damage or handing out cups of coffee and sandwiches like our own Gov. Joe and the red cross did. People there is about as much chance to see one of these green PETA types working shoveling mud in a flooded town as there is to see a hippie longhair with a bar of soap. They are like cats and mice, or foxes and chickens just natural enemies. However I do see a certain coal company calling in the miners and helping there neighbors and donating heavy equipment which at the going rate is probably about 200 dollars a hour if you could rent it down at the uhaul place but you cant. I would like to caution Mr. DB about those free scholarships he is offering to WV kids to pay there schooling. Just please Mr DB tell your people to find out if any of these kids family are or have ever been hippies or tree huggers before you give them any money and send them over to the OVAC or that club Zero bunch for there money and college education instead help a deserving coal miners child.

As school lets out for the summer, please remember to watch out for children. Whether you are driving down the street, or at a park or pool, please watch out for children that are around you. Children in our area are often left unsupervised, and wander out into the street after a ball, or into the deep end over their heads at the pool. Whether you know the child or not, you can be a hero for that child just by watching out for them. Working parents often drop their kids off at pools or parks, and they are left to fend for themselves. If you see someone suspicious around them, notify someone or intervene. Let's keep our area children safe this summer. It often does take a village to raise a child, and you may be the one person to make a positive difference in a child's life. God bless.

I have never been one to beat around the bush so here goes.THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET A LOT WORST!Treasury bond prices are sinking, interest rates are rising, the dollar is falling, unemployment is surging, commercial real estate is collapsing and General Motors is going bankrupt. The DOW will make a big move down to around 5000.This may be your last shot to buy a house. When rates go way up and inflation causes home prices to go up it will be even harder to get a loan with what few banks are left.Rent will go up too.Crime will spike again.Government services will decrease and taxes will increase.BUY GOLD AND SILVER NOW!This may be your last chance.I wish you all good luck and remember, this thing is going to happen, regardless of what we do.So get yourself ready and be positive. That's right be a positive force and help your family and your neighbor. We have a crisis, now let's go to work!
