Hey, guess what??? You are an annoying idiot! I usually ignore dumb posts like yours, but this one fired me up. I'd watch out for lightening if I were you.

Yes I'm a bible thumper and proud of it. I'm an American and proud of that too. I thought everyone who spoke on Yell were free to do so but according to some we are not all welcome so that means we don't have freedom of speech unless it is what everyone wants to hear. Shucks just cause I don't agree with everyone that doesn't mean they should shut up and just agree with me. It would be a dull place if everyone thought alike and had the same opinions.

You will be sorry one day for making fun of what you call bible thumper's. God help us all. The end is near. Are we ready?

Hello coal miners this is Big Earl these college boy hippies is at it again. It seems these hippie geniuses have built one of there greenie houses and herded a bunch of cows into it to measure if a cow puts out more methane gas from the business end or the head end. Leave it to a bunch of PETA types to not know that cows are kept in barns not in places where they grow there dope plants. And if a cow really does burp methane gas may I suggest you tree huggers put out your funny little cigarettes before you bother them. Anyway they are blaming the cows in the USA for there so called global warming, saying that feeding cows good wholesome foods like corn and soybean easy grown here in WV is bad and now to cut down on all these cow burps and save the earth we have to feed them hippie food something called “Alfalfa” and no you longhairs I am not talking about the little rascals TV show. There is nothing better than a good corn fed Angus steak and these PETA types would like nothing better than to ruin that. Gov. Joe please keep an eye on our WV colleges and if they try something like this please cut off there money.

I have a couple more questions to add to the health care debate. First, working people who are taxed to death already, how do you feel knowing your health benefits that you work for will now be taxed as income, to pay for "free" care? Next who out there in the audience has lived in a socialist or communist country and experienced the wonderful health care systems first hand? You know the ones where anybody who has the money runs from like the plague and comes to America to use our broken, unfiar system? At least that way it will be a fair comparison. How many of you are ready to turn over 20% of the economy to Obama, a guy who never accomplished anything of substance in his life, never hired anyone, never ran a business, never ran a hospital, etc...? Doctors, how do you feel, after sacrificing 10 or so years of your life to learn medicine, now you are the bad guys, allegedly cheating the poor, etc...when did we get to the place in America where we expect our neighbor to pay our bills?

Positive thoughts to you and your family coal miner! Raise some hell with the insurance company and/or your employer if they try and drag out your healing and compensation needs for a job you risk your life for everyday!

I usually don't agree with Big Earl, and I don't this time. He's entitled to his opinion. My problem with his opinion is I've heard it a million times. I don't read his posts because only with a word or two difference, its the same post as the day before.

I would like to request that readers of The Yell please post comments about their personal experiences or their relatives' personal experiences with the current health care system, experiences for those with insurance and without insurance, and experiences that were really good or really bad. How much does your health insurance cost? Does it cover your entire family? Does your health insurance premium come out of your pocket? Or do you have high deductibles for out of pocket costs? Is your care adequate? Have you had to change doctors because of a health care plan? Please try to refrain from name-calling as this only makes the topic a less focused discussion, diverging into an argument amongst a few who argue about anything and everything except the base issue. Please don't call story contributors liars just because you may have a difference of OPINION.

People of WV hello this is Big Earl and I for one am happy that Mr. DB has challenged this tree hugger rocket professor to a debate. If I am not working I hope to get a couple of those tickets and be right there to support our coal industry. We in WV produce our own Rocket scientists and certainly don’t need this pointy head to come to our state to tell us how to mine coal. What on earth does he know about coal mining anyway if you people want to hear some sense out of a rocket scientist invite Roy Sherman Odell Homer and Quintin to join in the discussion. And by the way you hippies and tree huggers I read on this very news site where your home state of ohio has stabbed you in the back and is building one of them nuclear power plants so that should keep you busy hollering and protesting over there and out of our hair. Why don’t you go back over and eat some snails with them French people who is building the thing but wait that would make your PETA friends mad to be eating slugs. Anyway ha ha to you you think coal is bad now you get your new power plant and the first time it blows up you get a bunch of three eyed two headed babies in the deal to so go away and be happy.

I agree with go somewhere else somewhat,if you don't put this country first why be here?So many people seem to forget if it wasn't for the ones that put this country first, even before their life, they wouldn't be able to enjoy the life they lead here today. If you want to follow what ever religion you chose do so,if you don't want to follow a religion do so,but if you don't put this country first you dishonor every real patriot that has gave his life and/or physical well being, not for religious, scientific,or political reasons but for the freedom we all enjoy.I don't care who you are,"COUNTRY FRIST"should be a no brainer.

accidents happen in everything.if fortunes werent made, who,d have a job?the home is probably the most dangerous place to be.percentage wise a plane is many times safer than a car,a relative or friend is more likely to do you harm than a stranger.and speaking of selfish big buisness, whats in tooth fillings, vaccines, flu shots, lifes a gamble bring on the coal and good paying jobs and reasonable energy cost.send the trouble makers back where they came from,im sure theres enough problems in their own back yards to keep them buisy for a lifetime, unless they live in their own self made utopia.

I have come to the conclusion that we have been raped by our leaders and this economic slump was introduced and inacted by our own Government.Do you all recall just as few as 9 yrs ago all the big talk was social security was going broke and the Bush administraion was going to fix it well lets give old Geroge an atta boy he fixed it. We havent heard all the talk for awhile now and heres why With the population of the baby boomers nearing retirement and the fact that SS would have went broke because of waste they had to do something so if they wreck the economy and wipe out peoples retirement savings then people will have to work longer and that will mean less retiring which means more in SS coffers.Seems the dire need to react just disappered so ask yourselves if you trust your govt enough to think they wouldn't do this to you and the kicker is who do you think got rich when the price of Oil soared bet it was an Oil man by the name of Bush and they called Clinton slick

Heres a thought do you know that they could have given everyone in the US a million dollars with the amount they have spent for this bail out but I bet you cant guess why they didnt well heres the answer If you give out money like that who would work then where would we be no farmers to grow food and if there were they'd not have workers to hekp harvest it everyone could buy a new car but who would build them once the inventory was gone and who would work to produce fuel for them see where I am going with this our elected officials do some stupid thing but they are not stupid they know you have to keep a work force or the world would end people have to desire things to get them to work and if everyone was a millionare they could have rather than desiring to have and they wouldn't work.Yes some money would help but we seen whay happened when Bush handed out 600 a person everyone saved it instead of spending so that backfired we need a help but how do you set a fair amount for everyone

Hello WV working people first off I hope my brother coal miner is ok from yesterday and I want to send a special shout out our own Boone Co. sheriff for hauling these nasty hippies off the mine and tossing them in the clink. I happen to know the Madison VFD has a high power hose and maybe you could get our local Kroger store to donate some tide soap powders or something before you lock them up. People I hate to say I told you so but I told you so you don’t believe Big Earl when he tells you these people never met a bar of soap in there life or been to a barber shop but thank you WSAZ my favorite and the best news station for showing up and taking film to prove it. These cosmic longhair refugees from a Grateful dead concert belong to some foreign outfit called the chunky monkey rainforest crunch bunch or something like that aint quite as peaceful as they advertise they aint even from around here. Sen. RCB please have your people get the film of this from WSAZ these hippies put on a show for you. Gov. Joe thank you for sending the WV State Police to clean out that dope patch that attracts these hippies like a cow pie attracts flies.

Yes I said it and if you tead his post you will see it he needs to get a job and give back his check and stay out of the yell he is hurting or cause with his hypocritical blabber he dogs China and the green slop do you not know China imports more coal than anyone in the world and most of that comes from WVa goes on about doing things the way god intended then wants to use pellets form bayer plant instead of cow munure for fertilizer I'll bet god put bayer here just for that and any frarmer worth his grit would never buy some synthetic pellets when he has a whole barn full of cow patties to fertilize with, see you are need to think before you speak you cant have it both ways. The treehuggers will point to the green slop comment then say that is where were headed if we keep burning coal and the idiots at the epa will agree and all the people you claim to be friends of will be out of work and the coal co. wont help if they cant exploit the miners so do us a favor and shut your pie hole

I am about tired of these banks and all their fees. Hello WV working people especially those in coal mining we hear all the time from these hippies that the coal miner is killing off all the wildlife running the little animals off and into extinction destroying the land and such but I read a story in my newspaper that proves these hippies and PETA types don’t have no real sense. It seems there has been an explosion in the bear population in the state of KY because these PETA people has outlawed bear hunting almost since the time of Daniel Boone over there and now they are doing what bears naturally do when they are not kept in line that is bothering people, pestering campers, rooting around in peoples garbage cans and the like. People there is only so many constructive uses for a bear like good steaks, a nice rug, dancing at the circus or my all time favorite a cage match on the big time wrestling show with the likes of Black Jack Mulligan. PS the bear lost. Anyway we in WV know how to coexist with these creatures the way God intended that is make them the state animal and let a coal company build a nice wildlife area where they can live peacefully and whatever ones wonder off to bother somebody is fair game during bear hunting season.

Hey out there. If you don't want to read the christian talk, don' read it skip to the next opinion. Course if it is bothering you it may be that deep down you might be thinking about it. I hope so. Either way just keep on keeping an open mind you keep telling christians to have. I'm proud to be a christian first and then an American second. Until the end of time christians will be persecuted but at the end of time they will be glorified. It ain't my opinon that will save a soul but if I don't speak out then I am doing what the devil wants me to do by keeping quiet. Of course some ofyou don't believe in God or the devil so like I said skip the christain stuff. Don't YELL at me if you read it. I'll still pray for you out loud or silent, but I'll pray.

I have a question...and I hope someone will have the answer. I went to a local bank today with a cashier's check and was told that they had to put a hold on it for at least 2 business days. When did a cashier's check become "any other" check? I had always thought that a cashier's check was as good as cash in hand. Do they expect people to walk around with large sums of money in their pockets for someone to steal?

To Debbie - Why the insult? Posted by: Debbie on Jun 17, 2009 at 02:24 PM To, TO Sophie, you are soooo wrong. If traffic is merging and you can move over you are suppose to, if not you're suppose to slow, you are NEVER suppose to make traffic merging on an interstate stop if you can keep from it, read a drivers manual already. Traffic entering an interstate from a dead stop pose a danger to all, of course we know it's really just all about you, everything is" You don't know me and have taken my words out of context. I never said anything about making traffic on the interstate stop. Apparently there is some issue with I64 @ Dunbar because I hear sirens screaming several times a month to this area and its not a drill. People have been killed here and at the I64 St. Ablans entrance. I write out of sincere concern for others. Why are you making a personal insult? Please apologize.

if washington is so concerned about the economy, instead of giving these big companies bail out money, why don't they give the little people money and tell them to pay for their houses, buy their cars, and deposit some in the bank. It would make more sense. That way the companies would still get their money, the economy would pick up, and the little people wouldn't lose their homes. As for healthcare, has anyone seen the PROGRAM "SICKO"? If you haven't, find someone with HBO or SHOWTIME and find it. It really is sad when they can take 3 boats of people to Cuba (our enemy?) and get free health care and highly discounted medicines. We are talking inhalers that in this country would cost $100. or more, there they have them for 50 cents. What is wrong with this picture. Also, welfare recipients, I think they need random drug testing. Just about every here has to take one to get a job, so why not them? Go Figure. Hope you all read this and comment on these topics.

Now I'm going to pay for welfare cell phones so they can make drug deals for free. I once tried to get food stamps because I was working a crappy job at the time, and just because I didn't have a child or 7 they gave me a hard time so I said forget it. Jeannie, capitalism does not try to guarantee equality of outcome, but opportunity. Socialism guarantees equality of outcome, i.e., misery and poverty, for all. Just look where it is tried, along with govt. ran health care systems. It is better to have some without health care than to ruin everything for everyone. The interests of 4-6 million cannot be put ahead of 300 million; and no, there are not 45 million uninsured in America, that number is a fraud, it includes illegal aliens. If Obama is successful he will bankrupt the country and everyone loses. If you want to help the working poor, a great goal, then quit supporting higher taxes on wealthy people, who create jobs with health care for poor people; stop with the global warming nonsense, which is going to cause poor people's bills to double or triple; etc...when there is a govt/public option available companies will drop their coverage, resulting in new millions of uninsured, for the govt. to pick up. This is a disasterous idea.

Karen, if "God doesn't force himself on us" then why must all these so-called christians shove religion down peoples throat at every opportunity? Have you ever had a van load of atheists show up at your door? Have you ever had anyone come to your house wanting to read with you from the book of Kama Sutra? Have you ever had anyone condemn your soul to an eternity in some type of hell if you did not join the local night club? Maybe more people would follow the path of your God if it wasn't paved by hypocrites with bricks of hate, prejudice and self-righteousness.

big screen t.v.,cable are a fact of people who live off the fat of the land.that is if they,re not spending it on drugs, booze, gas, etc.the so called working poor do get health care.theres ehe health dept.paid for with homeowners taxes.there are orginizations that help, pay for health care for people who dont have insurance, you just have to get up and look not just wait for someone to do it for you.theres no such thing as a gov.program being free.thats tax payer money and im sure most people are as tired as i am paying for those.you use the term working poor.the last i heard earned income credits are in the thousands of dollars .that phraise earned income credit is a lie.not one penny being given to them is theirs its other tax payers money.since its a gift why dont they save it for medical care, its a freebe.as you know a lot of people work less so they will be entitled to it.why do you think people dont get married anymore,so they will be entitled to e.i.c.

Well Kieth I see you still won't research your comments, can't teach an old dog new tricks they say.Much of the problem is not doctors having tests run out of fear, but having tests run for profit. Many are joint owners of imaging centers, labs, out patient operating rooms, even hospitals.PROFIT is required. And the drug co.are PROFIT DRIVEN as we all are aware of.No health reform will work without reigning in this greed,I believe in profit but not in gouging which is whats really going on from wall street on down. And to those bible experts, the idea of torture in hell didn't come around until Dante thought it up.And the books you say were breathed, were chosen by priests, why weren't the other books included? If the bible is the absolute word of your god, why was it condensed? It was because the contradictions were so evident it would be hard to sell to the masses.Even so there are still so many(such as John and Luke)that its clear these are stories written by humans using their imagination.

Jesus said if you seek me, you will find me. If you're going through hell here on earth, that's really sad. Because Jesus said he came to give us life and give it more abundantly. Jesus really did walk the face of this earth and really did what is written that he did for YOU AND ME. The Bible says: "All scripture is God breathed." Jesus said "My sheep will know my voice." If you seek him (truly seek him) believe me you will find him! My prayers are with you all on here. We should not argue God's word. That's not what it is for. Love conquers all. Love all of you! Yes, everyone has a right to believe what they want. That's why God doesn't force himself on us. I pray for those who don't know God and says they were forced to go to church when they were little. I pray that God will reveal himself to you and remove the blinders on your eyes and ears. I'm thankful I had a mother who taught me about God or I don't know where I would have been in my life. :)

Hello working coal mine families of WV this is your friend Big Earl and we need to extend a thank you to our own Gov. Joe for clout and a good WV welcome to the people coming down here from Washington DC to help us fight these tree hugger types that want to shut down our mining industry. I read on this very news site where representatives of our own very honorable RC Byrd are coming to town to get to the bottom of what is going on with our jobs and go tell Sen. RCB so he can help give these hippies and tree huggers in the EPA what for. One word of advice though for these good folks though is drive over by the pentagon on your way down here and pick up a couple of gas masks from the surplus pile because I seen where you are planning to meet with the hippies and longhairs that aint never met a bar of soap they liked and get there two cents on shutting down all the mines. Why Sen. RCB is worried about a bunch of tree huggers from Ohio is beyond me, but a good way to get shed of these hippies is wait to come down here until the third of the month that way they will all be lined up for there checks and not over here bothering us while we try to work and maybe you can get a nice tour of a baseball park golf course or wildlife grazing area built by local mines.

Many responsible people don't have access to health insurance or health care. Some of you say that anyone can go to the ER to get care and I guess that would work for emergencies, but ERs are not set up to deal with care needed after a major accident, nor are they equipped to deliver chemotherapy. I guess some say that if we were all responsible adults, then we would have money saved for such occasions or that some should just get a "better" job. This is hardly realistic since some accidents could cost a family tens of thousands of dollars for F/U (and for health ins.). I can find no logic in the belief that no health care is better than some health care. Some of you sling personal arrows and attack with inaccurate supposition that people could pay for health ins. if only they didn't insist on a plasma TV or some other nonsensical luxury item. That's just a cop out. There's no way you could garner that information from posts on The Yell. We need to support the Working Poor.

I would just like to inform everyone that the boys that played in the north south baseball game had to pay 75 dollars to play, and they couldn't even provide them with water. Meanwhile the north south football players get to stay in charleston for a week and get taken out for dinners, and movies. This is a disgrace and whoever is resposible should be ashamed of themselves.

Religion is us trying to find God and Christianity is God finding us. There are many religions with people worshiping other gods. Freedom of religion is to use our own faith not that of others. I could speak without God's word but I would rather it be His because I am not perfect and all knowing as HE. His word is like a roadmap and will guide us in the right direction and when we make a wrong turn He is there to put us back on the right path. Yes all books can be rewritten and have been but so far the Bible is still the same and in many languages. People have tried to destroy it and will continue to do so as long as time is. It is not just one book, it is many. It was written in Hebrew,Greek and Latin and the only thing that has been changed is the language. It was done so that everyone could read and understand it not just a few. These are my words "guided by God" and with an open mind to any opinion or belief. The church is just a house for people to worship as they please, freely.

To, TO Sophie, you are soooo wrong. If traffic is merging and you can move over you are suppose to, if not you're suppose to slow, you are NEVER suppose to make traffic merging on an interstate stop if you can keep from it, read a drivers manual already. Traffic entering an interstate from a dead stop pose a danger to all, of course we know it's really just all about you, everything is.

All the people you mentioned today will get their due justice but that doesn't mean I hate them. I did not know them so I could not love them in a personal way. I do not know you but I can love you because you are a human being. That is the way we are supposed to do,believe it or not. We are not the same as they are as long as we live our lives according to God's will. We are all born into this world with sinful natures and as we grow we learn right from wrong. If we choose right, we are doing well, choose wrong and we suffer the consequences not only by man's law but more importantly, God's law which is more just. I have felt hate towards people who did me wrong but I forgave them and I still love the person but not what he or she did that was wrong. No one is at fault for what someone else does; we just have our lives to be responsible for and if we show others more love and respect they may change their ways for a better life. We gain nothing by hate.

I am quite aware that the oncoming traffic has the right of way - but without the car behind you realizing that you have to stop because you cannot merge, and with no yellow yield lights as you have suggested, you run out of road and are forced to stop. I think you have an excellent suggestion. As for myself, when I travel this area & others where I know cars entering the interstate have an extremely short entry (like St. Albans where a family was killed) I get in the left lane and leave room until I safely pass the entryway. I try to drive defensively and look out for the other guy because he is not always looking out for me. Thanks.

Kris, you cannot be forced to believe the gospel, it has to be voluntairly accepted for it to have any effect. I would suggest not letting the actions of others influence you into feeling the way you do. There is a zeal without knowledge mentioned in scripture and some folks simply may mean well but end up discouraging others. I would suggest starting in the book of John and moving through Acts for a beginner with the bible. One thing that is made clear is that God is love, He loves us, and that he does not send anybody to hell, they send themselves by rejecting the sacrifice of Christ to redeem them. The bible teaches us that hell was created not for human beings but for the devil and the fallen angels who follow him. It is such a tragedy that people cannot humble themselves and accept such great provision. As Paul wrote in Ephesians Chapter 2 we are saved by the grace of God, freely given, not of works, so that no person can boast of their own worthiness or goodness.

Politics are a joke, pop culture is a joke, Christianity is a handicap for people who don’t want to do for themselves(they let god do the work), Christianity is also the Downfall of Religion,Paris Hilton is garbage, The international concept of beauty is a joke,Breast implants and weaves are a joke, Bill O'reily is trash, Consumerism is a sad joke, and Charity-related marketing is a joke. 1st. This nation wasn’t founded on Christianity; it was founded on FREEDOM OF RELIGION. 2nd.The government wasn’t based on a Democracy; it’s based on a REPIBLIC. 3rd. 3 words everyone forgets: WE THE PEOPLE! 4th.I know that history was written, and therefore it can be Re-written, but there are other books out there OTHER than the bible, you know, like the ones we had in school. 5th.Church is a rally point for all closed minded people who can’t think, act, or speak without “gods” word. So, next time you go to speak your mind, make sure it’s YOUR MIND opening and YOUR WORDS being spoken.

The problem is people on the ramp do not yield to oncoming traffic. The oncoming traffic must ALWAYS yield to the traffic on the interstate. The wrecks are cause in both locations by people who jut into traffic in front of people who have the right of way. It is not the traffic law that people who have the right of way should "move over" and let you or anyone else merge. What we need is a 30 ft. tall yield sign, traffic lights on the ramp so only one or two cars can merge at a time (they have them in all major cities), and some drivers who have a little sense.

It seems evil humans are building houses on the edge of suburbia and running these porkers out of the woods so I knew right off it was these PETA types running around bothering everybody that wants to hunt these nuisance animals that is to blame and this is what you get just like when bears run wild people one day you are going to wake up and think you are on something like the planet of the apes except thankfully we still got the guns and there is no general porko riding around on a horse throwing a net over us humans. There is a good reason the good Lord put us on top of the food chain and gave us the sense to make sausage and bacon. I am hereby petitioning our own Gov. Joe to immediately declare pig season in force to protect the good citizens of WV and give these pigs what for before they turn the tables on us.

Does politics dictate the kind of love we have for one another? Do we love them only if their politics are like ours? I thought we are supposed to love people regardless of politics, religous beliefs or anything else that isn't right in our eyes. True love is unconditional. LIke the saying "love is blind". It sees no color or imperfections. If it is true love, we have compassion, hurt when others hurt, cry when others cry, feel the loss when someone loses a job, all they have, loses a loved one, then reach out and embrace them. We can try to help them through the bad times and rejoice with them in the good times. When we love with conditonal love, then it isn't worth much.

I know about God and Jesus and the Bible because I was forced to go to church growing up and for a lack of better words, forced to believe in God and Jesus and the Bible and told if I didn't, then God and Jesus would hate me and I would go to hell! Great way to start out life.

Yes the bible is a history book, that only lends to its credibility, unlike some books that make outrageous claims with no physical evidence. As for why there has been no repeat, the book of Jude tells us the faith was delivered once to the saints, which rules out any additional books, i.e., "other testaments of Jesus Christ," that purport to add on to and change the New Testament but cannot prove their claims via independent investigation. Several of the biblical writers claimed inspiration, from Jesus, to Paul, to Peter; simply put to fortell the future with accurate, specific, detailed prophecies is impossible for mere man (witness Nostradamus) to do. One question, if this earthly life is hell, who sent you to hell, and what did you do to deserve it? You would probably call yourself a good person, but since you are in hell anyway what possible hope can you have? I have hope because I know my redeemer lives, his word is true and his grace forgives and cleanses WHOSOEVER will ask Him.

I would like to yell about the on ramps of I-64 at Dunbar going east to Chas. & the on ramp at So. Chas. heading west. There are quite a few wrecks at the Dunbar on-ramp because it is a short ramp and cars headed east don't move over & make room for their entrance. Nearly every morning, it bottlenecks there and in the evening the same on the other side of the bridge where cars entering on the So. Chas side slow down the traffic. At the end of that ramp, there is no where to go. Either someone lets you in, or you've got to stop (wrong move on a ramp!). A warning "Merging Traffic Ahead" should be posted. The new bridge won't have a thing to do with eliminating this problem. The ramps are dangerously short and when congested, there is no where to go. They should have built a third lane that would have an eventual merge not a "wham bam here I am" kind of ramp. We cannot skimp on safety.

I try to stay away from Doctors and hospitals so other people won't have to pay for my care since all I have is Medicare. I can't afford other ins. and I am not able to work. If hospitals wouldn't gouge their prices health care wouldn't be so much. It pays to ask for an itemized bill and ask questions. Is $20 for 2 Advil too much? Yes it costs to make the drugs we are given but they charge outrageous prices. If the gov. wants to run things why don't they put the skids on hospitals and drug companies gouging prices. I am all for everyone having equal healthcare and the government wastes enough to help pay for it but not to dictate when and where we get treatment. I know of one city where you have to pay the doctor extra and make an appointment before he or she will visit you at the hospital. Is this reasonable? What's more important, the money or his or her patients? Progress now is to talk to drs through robots and not at your bedside. Will we billed extra? Probably.

to: social health care: My husband works a decent job, he earns 28,000 a year, I earn around 20,000 a year, but we still do not have healthcare because we simply cannot afford it from his company. Mine does not even offer it. To get it for the entire family would cost around 800 dollars a month...maybe not bad, but once we pay that, we won't have enough money to pay the deductible and the copay, plus our other bills. We DO NOT have a big cable or television package, we have an antenna to get the locals. The only luxury we have is the internet and cell phonese, and that is because of our children and elderly parents needing to get ahold of us when we are not at home. Our jobs pay our bills, but heaven help us if we get sick. We were not lucky enough to land a job that pays extra well so we could get health insurance. Not everyone was, have some compassion for the unlucky ones.

"get a job that has benefits" WHERE are those jobs? MANY companies are doing away with their health care BECAUSE of the costs. Have you seen the many commercials now advertised on TV about health ins. Look at those prices! Who can afford $500.00 dollars a month just for health care. Then what about the people who work for major companies (rest., retail) will not give you health unless you are full-time. But they called their part-time (36 hrs). Believe it or not; in this state you can only receive the medical care if you are disabled. We need to have an over-haul of medicine (doctors, hospitals, etc.) WHY DOES IT COST $10.00 a pill (and that pills is an aspirin?)

Now used to be you could go to the market and get 50 pds of potatoes, lard, beans, flour, you know all the makings of a good meal. Now when you walk through the door they have these tree hugger black bags made out of recycled leaves and twigs from China where they have green slop bigger than the Blob running through the streets. Next I saw something that will no doubt make the PETA types happy “cage free chicken eggs.” Now that is what you get when you try and let a PETA type run a egg farm they don’t have any sense anyway and anybody that’s ever been around a chicken knows it needs a cage or a good wire pen. These hippies probably loose more eggs to foxes cause Henrietta hen is laying all over the place instead of in a nice box of straw like God intended. And all this so called “organic” stuff like milk juice and vegetables people you know what that means all they do is dump it full of cow manure instead of nice clean fertilizer pellets from the Bayer asprin plant and let the bugs crawl all over it. Sounds delicious don’t it.

Good point Gandalf, in a word horrible. I cannot imagine a worse candidate the Rs could have put up than McCain, he was O lite. I remember hearing how McCain was going to tax health benefits as income, and how bad that was. Now to pay for this monstrosity O is going to hit working people, via his stooges in the Senate, with the same tax. Working people are getting hammered by this guy. I think the person who compared ruining the health care system to the ruined education system made a great point. We are last across the board in most everything, and I don't blame the individual teacher, but the bureaucracy that runs education. If that is the most successful thing you can cite that the govt. runs, do you REALLY want them to run medical care? Dear Lord, help us please. My premiums are high due to a lawsuit happy culture and unnecessary tests performed out of fear by doctors, but most of all due to bad choices and unhealthy living by deadbeats who could care less that I have to support.

I cannot imagine living in a city where your neighbors are being killed, raped, robbed, etc. The small town is my choice over big cities anyday. Coming to my town after leaving Charleston is like stepping back in time 20 or 30 years. We may not have shopping, nightlife, etc that big cities have, but at least children can play outside without worrying about being shot, and elderly people can sit on their porch without being killed.

@ Keith; How do you think McCain would be doing in the White House about now? 4 more years of the same old sameold? Or would he have started carpet bombing Hanoi again? Look at Iran today... Young intelligent people are about to be massacred, if not already. The old school fundamentalism cannot bring about anything but death and destruction. It is the human genetic defect.

its my understanding ,there are over a thousand health insurance providers.if the co.a person works for doesnt provide coverage, get a job that does.but other taxpayers shouldnt have to provide other peoples insurance.maybe that person doesnt neccerally like the job they go to every day but does the right thing for his,her family.how big a t.v. or cable package do people have that have no health insurance?just curious.

God's word says to love our neighbors as we love ourselves and also do unto others as you would have them to do unto you. You don't believe in God's word and that it is a fable? Have you really read or studied it or do you take other people's word for what it says? Don't take my word for it but read and study it with an open mind, yourself. Scientists have been trying to disprove it for centuries but the more they try the more they prove it to be true. Yes the God inspired men that wrote the Bible wrote it for the times they lived in but it still holds true for today and the way we live. Their are two choices we have in this life and it is to live and strive for heaven or die for hell. I do not judge you for your beliefs nor should you for mine, we don't have that right. The Judge that will do that will say, you have lived according my will and now be blessed with eternal life or go, I never knew you and be lost forever. What will your choice be? I pray it will be life eternal.

You are beautiful people! You work HARD for the State of West Virginia! You make sure our lights are on! You make sure you put food on your table! Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, the extraction and burning of fossil fuels(oil and coal)are DESTROYING our planet! PLEASE find a new career or at the very least, please tell your children and grand children to find a different career... I have no kids, I am 39 years old, if I'm lucky I have another 39 years to live, I am gay and have absolutely no plans on having kids..my point is I have no stake in the outcome of the bad practices leading to the destruction of our world but I do want it to be able to support all forms of life forever! If a meteorite destroys our world, then that's one thing. But If our world is destroyed because of what WE DO while were here, then that's what we deserve... We CAN supply electricity to West Virginia WITHOUT coal mining! I sincerely mean this! Kris Curry

Amy Wilcox was a friend of my daughters and what happened to her hit everyone hard.My problem is,why wasn't that monster charged with attempted murder or at least child endangerment when he left his own daughter in that house to fend for herself and to see what her own father was capable of doing.I pray that the babies who were left behind when Amy passed will find a way to get through this and maybe find some peace. My prayers are with them and the rest of Amys' family

I love you guys! Everyone has THEIR own opinion!! Let it go! Please!!! I have a busy life and don't have time to write everyday like some people I know! Everybody is different and interpret the Bible in different ways! But the truth is the Bible is here for us to read. Whether or not we chose to believe that's up to us! That was why it was written! For everyone to make the decision to live in Heaven forever or in a lake of fire! Good or evil? It's up to you on which path you want to take! Have a good day and God Bless you!!

Anonymous, It seems you have a problem with facts. The two most convincing proofs I know that testify to the existence of the God of the bible are very specific, detailed propheices and the existence and survival of the Jewish folks and the physical land of Israel. Start in Genesis and go through the Old Testament and you will find the story of these people and their country (that God dearly loves and protects) detailed in very clear terms, centuries before events happened. The birth of Israel in 1948 was a miracle, but was foretold by the prophets of old. The return of the city of Jerusalem, as well. The bible tells us that Jerusalem and the land of Israel will be the focus of the entire world in the latter days, and have you noticed that it is, daily. The bible speaks of cities, countries, political systems, personalities, currencies, languages, peoples, etc..that all existed in history and are verifiable through independent research and artifacts. You are allowing hatred to blind you

WSAZ I think you should get rid of the yell! Everytime I look at the comments on your main web page all I ever see is a bunch of comments from people who are telling each other off so to speak. Make them exchange email addresses and they can do that in private! I think it also takes up too much room on your main web page. Please get rid of this nonsence! Thank you!!!

Kieth,Ari, welfare speak, food for thought, you all are so stupid you can't see the difference between faith and facts, religion is not able to survive without faith, facts are the enemy of religion.I have more respect for a person that lives right, and is a plus in their community just because it is the right thing to do ,not because they think they are going to be rewarded with some mythical after life. Most people I have had contact with who say they are religious and live right, are the biggest hypocrites, you all want to spout off on the bible even tho it is obvious you haven't got a clue how it reads or to what time period it pertains to,the truth about believers are they have more divorces, commit more child abuse, hate more people, and act like they are some kind of special holy people while they are doing it.Hollering for their god to strike down and punish those who disagree with them.In my book thats bad people.

Posted by: food for thought on Jun 15, 2009 at 09:54 AM "About read the Bible--truths in the Bible. ALL THE BIBLE is a GOOD written fable! Was created by MEN because of the chaotic times! I find it amazing that some many people believe that it is a real thing that supposedly written by the almighty. YES; there is written very well. But come now; things written really happened? YEAH, RIGHT! If you thing it has; then you are living the fantasy world! Jesus was just a man; married and lived a very short life. (Yes; he was a healer in a cosmic sense!) But not the son of God. He was born into this world just like everyone of us by conception!

So, we don't believe alike, can't we still get along with our neighbors. I say wait until you walk in each others shoes before you critisize, make fun of, or just plain don't care who you hurt.

Jeannie, so is that the best argument you can come up with that I should buy your families heatlh care, because they don't have a job that provides it? I know this is a novel idea, but when I was in a job that I hated and had bad benefits I pursued and got another that had good ones. It is comical though that you have to remind us that the occupation in question is legitimate, like we would think anything else. Switching gears, dont those folks in Iran know that Big O went to Egypt last week and gave a speech and that everything is going to be fine in Iran? I cant understand what is wrong with those darn mullahs and why they wont make nice now that this great and noble country has been apologized for by our messiah. Love that restored prestige...Hows the hope and change working for everyone? Did you really count on 9.4% unemployment and 16,000 lost jobs per day, along with the govt. taking over banking, auto, and ruining coal, steel, dealerships, etc...Obama is a human wrecking ball.

just would like to comment on these people who say there is no God. this is not an attack on your posts, however get off your backsides, read or better yet have someone (preferably a preacher) and a local church read the Bible to you, and if you can think rationally pay attention to the truths in the Bible. There are many and I would love to point them out to you, yet I am afraid that you would see that this Christian would not get into a war of truth with you. I say truth because God is true. No matter how you look at it, it is appointed to man that we must die, and I pray that God continues to deal with your heart on your road to Damascus.

Not having health insurance and being irresponsible are separate issues. There are many, many responsible people out there who have NO health insurance. With the lack of competition for health insurance policies, insurance companies charge whatever fee they wish to the private individual seeking health insurance. If you're lucky, you can purchase a BASIC plan for a family of four for around $900/month - IF you have no pre-existing conditions, of which the definition is ever-expanding to include such minor ailments as twice monthly headaches. I have a close family member whose occupation precludes them from ever being able to purchase health insurance. Before you jump to conclusions, it's not a "seedy" job; it's a reputable small business.

Hello again you good working people of WV coal mining families I seen a story what illustrates why these hippies don’t have no sense they are also inconsiderate and don’t keep there animals penned up like they should. It seems that up in Canada there are a lot of these no good killer grizzly bears on what they call “nature preserves” and no you hippies I am not talking about grape jelly in a wine garden but apparently they don’t have sense enough to not build there commune next to a train track. According to this story the Canadian version of the Wabash cannonball wiped out “Bear number 71” a she bear that was rooting around looking for food. This is a perfect example of why bear hunting should be allowed and encouraged because first off if Big Ben is stuffed and on some lodge wall above a roaring fire or a nice shaggy bear rug he wont be out roaming around on the railroad bothering the train company when they are trying to haul stuff that people use like coal. People just look in your own backyard in WV we have bear season and I am yet to hear of a bear getting run over by a train around here which is a complete waste of a good bear.
