Rare January Tornado/High Wind Risk
The end of the “spring in winter” weather pattern is now imminent as a line of gusty downpours with thunder and lightning is crossing the region as of midnight. These storms are being generated by the same powerful cold front that slashed thru the Midwest with twisters on both Monday and Tuesday.
Until 4 AM, the threat of tornadoes is to be respected in the Scioto Valley of Ohio and Lewis County Kentucky. Of more broad concern, a rash of high winds will sweep across the region predawn with local gusts of 50 miles per hour. Power and communication outages will be scattered overnight.
By dawn, the storms will be gone and though the winds still gusty, the damaging wind threat will have ended.
