Spring-Tastic Until Weekend

Pollen Update: Tree pollen levels are back in the high range and will be rising thru Friday, so if you suffer, take your antihistamine as prescribed by the good doctor.

By the way, no sense in talking grass pollen this early as levels in April are low.

Spring Weather

As good as it gets! Spring personified! These are just a few of the splendid spring sayings that describe the current weather pattern. Of course my fav is a TC Top 10er!

Oddly an ocean vortex spinning east of Myrtle Beach is responsible for the splendor. This “storm at sea” is producing a stiff ocean wind at the Grand Strand and making for rough surf for early season vacationers.

The problem is this storm is kind if stuck in place, only migrating slowly seaward. Since our weather comes in from the west and leaves to the east, it kind of makes sense that until this ocean storm moves far out to sea, the weather inland will remain stuck in place.

For us, that means warm sunshine producing high pressure will hold thru Friday. Daytime highs topped 70 on Wednesday, and will jump to 75 on Thursday and 80 delightful degrees on Friday.

In time, the ocean sea will pull farther away from the mainland and that will open the gates for our fair weather to pass off to the east and for a developing wet weather system in the Plains to arrive with showers this weekend.

Since there are tons of events this weekend, and since any showers that may fall don’t exist now, no need to panic and no need to cancel your outdoor plans. But I am suggesting you have contingency plans in the event your fun gets rained upon.

Among those big events this weekend, Hillbilly Days in Pikeville (I did the parade last year and it was Tops!), the Ramp Fest in Richwood (Umm, Umm good) and 5K walks for Autism (Ritter Park in Huntington) and MS (Haskins Park in Gallipolis) and the Circus in Charleston.

We have time to fine tune the timing and intensity of weekend showers, so stay tuned!
