As Good as It Gets
Admit it, today’s weather was quite a treat! A true TC Top 10er! But thanks to Mother Nature, our reprieve from the hail and wind storms is just a one day affair. New storms are due in scattered form Wednesday afternoon.
In Texas, they call these beauts Blue Northers; namely, blue skies that follow the passage of a cold front and are accompanied by a stiff north breeze. In the Lone Star State, those northers blow from Colorado and bring in Rocky Mountain cool air. Here in Appalachia, the north breeze comes “from Canada with Cool Love”!
This refreshing change from the early season heat looks to stay in place for a solid week. That means daytime highs in the 70s (80ish by weekend and next week) and overnight lows in the comfy 50s. Todd said it best on First at Five; namely, turn the AC off!
In fact if you are back-packing in the high country, you may well snuggle under the stars with a warm sleeping back as lows dip into the 40s!
You will need a light jacket in the evenings for Theatre WV plays at Grandview where the Rhododendron are still in bloom and at Jenny Wiley in Floyd County as the summer play season is underway. For your convenience I add two links for theatre goers to hit. I plan to take my God-daughter to the Wizard of Oz and Cinderella this summer!
