Ready for Some Winter

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – It doesn’t take much. Even a hint of a winter storm brings out a mad rush at grocery stores.

Teresa Cassidy stocked up on food at the Food Fair in Barboursville Friday evening in anticipation of the winter weather.

She says this time of year she's usually ready for winter to be over, but now, she's just waiting for it to get started.

“Everybody, every child hopes to get at least one good snow,” she said.

Students in Ohio are scheduled to take the ACT test Saturday.

Rather than spend Friday evening cramming, some Fairland students elected to hang out at their home basketball game against Rock Hill.

Fairland student Alex Thackston says he’s confident and ready for the test, but he wouldn’t mind if the wintry weather nixed the exam.

“It’s like another snow day, just on a Saturday,” Thackston said.

Along with snow, there are arrows in the air.

It's common to dream of a white Christmas. In Chesapeake, Ohio, Karon Turley is dreaming of a white Valentine's weekend.

She's put her heart into decorating her home for the holiday with pink and white lights and Cupid ornaments. Now she and her husband of 31 years Ted are hopeful they'll be waking up to a snow-blanketed landscape.

“I love the snow,” Turley said. “It makes it pretty when the snow covers everything. Everything looks pure."
