Fall Fire Season Information

Here are the rules and regulations for fall burning season:

Only vegatative material can be burned during these times. TRASH MAY NEVER BE BURNED. Also, many cities/municipalities have local law that supercedes state laws.

OFFICIAL SEASONS/BURN TIMES
(also known as restricted burning season)

  • West Virginia: October 1 to December 31
  • Kentucky: October 1 to December 15
  • Ohio: October 1 to November 30

LEGAL BURN TIMES
(for vegetative materials like twigs, branches, leaves). YOU MAY NEVER BURN TRASH

  • West Virginia: 4 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Kentucky: 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Ohio: 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The law requires you stay with your fire until it is completely out. It is best to use a 10' safety strip cleared to bare ground around fire.
