CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Kanawha County's Emergency Operation Center is on standby as Tuesday's storm rolls into the area.

Kanawha County is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 2 p.m.

The storm just pushed through the Huntington area with strong winds and heavy rain. There have been reports of a few trees down in the area, but no significant damage has been reported.

Part of a tree has fallen on a house in Huntington. The Huntington Fire Department responded to a tree on a house on Woodland Drive. Firefighters knocked on the door an determined no one was home at the time the tee fell. The tree limb is on the front part of the house.

As heavy rains and strong winds moved through the area Tuesday afternoon many trees have been reported down.

Some residents are either trapped in their subdivision or blocked from getting home depending on which side of the tree they're on. A large tree has fallen across the entrance to Stanford Park in Huntington preventing cars from going in and out of the subdivision.

City crews are responding but have been busy with many trees down throughout the city.

A large tree limb also caused one lane of 13th Ave in Ritter Park to close. City crews are on the scene removing the fallen tree now.

Appalachian Electric Power is also monitoring the storm. According to a news release, the company is staging 500 line mechanics and 100 damage assessment specialists across its service area in case our region experiences power outages.

WSAZ's Meterologists are tracking the storm and will provide live updates throughout the day.
