* Becoming severe weather certified means that a school's staff and students have been trained how to be prepared for a severe weather situation. The certification in no way indicates that the building or structure is safe nor will it be able to withstand a severe weather event of any magnitude.

Chris Bailey's Weather Classroom provides an opportunity for local schools to become severe weather certified* by WSAZ.

Chris visits schools to talk with students and teachers about what to do during different severe weather situations. At the end of his course, he presents the school with a certificate of certification.
