Janie Thompson
Starting Weight: 195
Present Weight: 129
Lost: 65 lbs over 10 months
I first became a Weight Watchers member in the early 1970’s and reached my goal and successfully completed maintenance. Over the years, I would gain and lose the same 20 pounds; this was because I enjoy cooking, eating portions too large, and my love for ice cream. As I carry my weight well, no one could imagine I had so much to lose.
I didn’t like myself and didn’t want anyone to see me, which was impossible, since I work full-time. My blood pressure and cholesterol rose and I could hardly bend over without discomfort, much less enjoy horseback riding, which my husband and I do together.
On January 2, 2007, I made a commitment to myself that I was going to lose my excess weight and keep it off for good. I basically started a program similar to CORE and on January 18, 2007, a Weight Watchers at Work program started and I was one of the first to join.
For the first time, I chose CORE instead of Flex because; 1. I like to cook and 2. I was always hungry on Flex. CORE has taught me how to cook, eat healthy, and still be satisfied. I’m currently going through maintenance and am again learning how to successfully keep the weight off.
I have had some struggles during the last 10 months, but with my instructor’s encouraging words and my determination, I was able to achieve my goal. I am now able to enjoy everything in life and even though my husband never said anything about my weight gain, he is so proud of me. The Weight Watchers’ fudgescicles are now my night fix with no guilt.
I encourage anyone needing to lose weight to select the Weight Watchers programs that suits their lifestyle.
Thank you Weight Watchers!
