60 Moments: Toyota Plant in Buffalo

What was once just an open field in Putnam County has turned into a major operation and source of income for our region.

Toyota broke ground in the fall of 1996.

It started production just two years later, but the work didn't stop there.

Since Toyota started production, the company has expanded five times and created more than a thousand full-time jobs.

"With our presence in Putnam County, it is very important to us to appropriately set the tone," said Tomoya Toriumi, Toyota's President & CEO.

To date, Toyota's overall investment in West Virginia comes to more than a billion dollars.
