We've witnessed countless homecomings since the War on Terrorism began.
And unfortunately, we've also dealt with the harsh realities of war, but one of the biggest stories of 2003: the daring rescue of Private First Class Jessica Lynch.
She was taken prisoner in Iraq after an ambush on her convoy, but was rescued 9 days later.
Jessica soon became the poster child of the war as the dramatic rescue was told over and over again, but the details started to spiral out of control and she later testified on Capitol Hill to set the record straight.
But there's one clear message: the American public will stand behind its soldier.
"I have repeatedly said when asked that if the stories about my helped inspired our troops and rally a nation then perhaps there was some good," said PFC Jessica Lynch. "However, I am still confused as to why they chose to lie and tried to make me a legend when the real heroes of my fellow soldiers that day were legendary."
Jessica has also wrote a book titled, "I Am a Solider Too" -- detailing her time as a POW in Iraq.
