A last minute touchdown on the wrong end of a 42 to 0 game usually doesn't get a lot of attention, but this was no ordinary touchdown. Jake Porter had never played a down -- until the mentally-challenged football player from Northwest High School scored 6 points in the game against Waverly.
It was a simple play, but a triumphant one for Jake -- because both coaches agreed to send him to the end zone, for the first time, in his last high school game.
Jake's story captured the nation's attention. Jake was honored at ESPN's ESPY Awards, he appeared on Oprah Winfrey and was featured in Sports Illustrated and the New York Times.
It was a show of sportsmanship that turned a special young man into an unlikely football hero.
