On the map, it's called US Route 23 -- the north-south highway that runs more than 14-hundred miles between Florida and Michigan; but in eastern Kentucky, it's called the Country Music Highway.

The state legislature acted in 1994 to honor the country music stars who went from the hills of eastern Kentucky to find fame -- stars like Billy Ray Cyrus, Naomi and Wynonna Judd, Loretta Lynn, Ricky Skaggs, and Dwight Yoakam.

The Country Music Highway was named a national scenic byway in 2002.
