Where Are They Now: Kathy Young

Have a hard question? Kathy Young was one of our talented reporters at WSAZ in the 80s and 90s who asked it! Kathy worked out of the Charleston newsroom as a reporter and has many fond memories of her days at WSAZ. She also anchored the morning news for four years. These days, Kathy still lives in the area. She’s raising a family in Putnam County.

“I was very, very young when I started at Channel 3, so I’m not as old as you might think,” Kathy Young says.

>> KATHY TRIVIA <<
Kathy appeared twice on the Mr. Cartoon show on WSAZ as a child.

She worked here from 1981-1993.

She started as an intern.

She says she had a 63 share in the mornings when she anchored one time. That means 63% of the audience was watching the WSAZ news at the time. That’s good.

I remember you at McDonalds and on tv..you were fine. And don't worry about the weight. I eat a lot of snacks i.e. donuts and have put on 27 pounds since I saw you. You look good on your computer.

Kathy, Its nice to see you. I wondered what you have been doing, and am glad to see that you are doing well. I remember Kathy Young from Pea Ridge Elementary, and as a cheerleader at Barboursville High School. You were always so smart. The last time I saw you, was when you interviewed me at a restaurant in Charleston in 1989. You look great! Jack
