Where Are They Now: Jule Huffman

Jule Huffman, AKA Mr. Cartoon, worked at WSAZ for more than forty years. He joined the television station as a singer and announcer in the days in which WSAZ produced many entertainment programs. He also was the station’s morning weatherman for years. Most people know Jule though for his alter ego Mr. Cartoon. In 1969, Jule took over the role of Mr. Cartoon and performed in this role of afternoon cartoon program host until 1995. He retired that year, but still remains one of the most popular television personalities in our region.

Jule says:
“I really did love my time when I was working at WSAZ. But I want you all to know out there, all the children who were on the show with me, I love you most of all. You made my life something special. God bless you all. Thank you.”

Mr. Cartoon was a great show, I watched it everyday that it was on, some of my best memories as a kid were watching those shows, I was a little older when they quit airing it weekdays but I was sad to see it go, I think Mr. Cartoon himself was a little upset too.

When I was a child in Clay County, I got the opportunity to be on the Mr. Cartoon show. I won magical chairs and got to sit on Mr. Beeper's lap. I thought I was a movie star! I wanted to be you when I grew up. There's still time. Thanks for making me feel special!
