Where Are They Now: Jule Huffman

Jule Huffman, AKA Mr. Cartoon, worked at WSAZ for more than forty years. He joined the television station as a singer and announcer in the days in which WSAZ produced many entertainment programs. He also was the station’s morning weatherman for years. Most people know Jule though for his alter ego Mr. Cartoon. In 1969, Jule took over the role of Mr. Cartoon and performed in this role of afternoon cartoon program host until 1995. He retired that year, but still remains one of the most popular television personalities in our region.

Jule says:
“I really did love my time when I was working at WSAZ. But I want you all to know out there, all the children who were on the show with me, I love you most of all. You made my life something special. God bless you all. Thank you.”

Mr. Huffman, thank you for always being a polite, honorable, and respectful man. I was on your show a number of times between 1989 and 1995, most of which were with my church group. You made such a positive impression on all of us. My friends and I still talk about the fun we had with Mr. Cartoon! It was a good, clean, healthy kind of fun which taught children the true values in life. Today, I am an independent, polite, hard-working woman living in the Kanawha Valley area and working with a wonderful non-profit in the area where I have the opportunity to positively impact lives daily. I am the person I am today because of the compassion and values that were instilled in me at a young age. Mr. Cartoon had a lot to do with that. Thank you again, and may God bless you.
