Where Are They Now: Shelly Slater

Shelly Slater was a Saturday morning anchor and reporter for WSAZ out of our Charleston studio earlier this century. Shelly was known for her active storytelling.

Today, Shelly is married and living in her hometown of Dallas, where she is the weekend anchor at WFAA.

Shelly says:
"West Virginia! The WV as I affectionately call it. I miss the fall, I miss the people, I miss the Capitol dome, I miss bridge day, the list goes on.

Looking back at my time spent there, it's truly two of the best years of my life. I made great friends and met amazing people on so many stories. I feel like WV is my first home because it's the first home I built for myself. I'm honored someone out there is curious to know where I went. Actually I was working in Kansas City when I got a phone call from a viewer in Kentucky.

She said, "I'm in town getting surgery from a specialist in KC, saw you on the news, and thought I'd tell you we miss you." I was stunned. That day I reminded myself of what I already knew....that the people in the tri-state are the most caring I've ever met. Thanks for the memories." -- Shelly

Hi Shelly, As all have said before me, it is good to see you. I missed you when I suddenly realized that you weren't there anymore. I hate it when we don't get a chance to know in advance when one of our television family members is leaving. We have to greive a loss and it's a big letdown. So, with that said, it is very nice to see you again and know that you are well. Take care! P.S. I used to love to watch you and Lisa on Saturday mornings, you were so carismatic together.
