COVINGTON, Ky. (WSAZ) - High school students participating in fall sports will have to wait a little longer to take the field or court.

In their board meeting Friday, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association voted to extend their segment three return plan (which includes voluntary practices focusing on conditioning and weight training) until Aug. 2.

Any mandatory practice or tryout will have to begin on Aug. 3 at the earliest, with the exception of golf (which will begin practice on Jul. 15).

Athletes will be limited to six hours of practice per week, even if they participate in multiple sports.

The KHSAA also discussed in their work session Friday morning that they recommend that all athletes and coaches abide by Governor Beshear’s face mask mandate.
