Kentucky breaks losing streak

STARKVILLE, Ms. (WSAZ) - The Kentucky Wildcats 6 game losing streak is over on a night where head coach John Calipari gets tossed from the game. UK beat Mississippi State 78-73 in double overtime Saturday evening. Dontaie Allen was on fire for the Cats as he led them in scoring with 23 points on 8-14 shooting from the floor including 7-11 from three point range. He had been averaging 1.8 points per game before today.
The drama started when head coach John Calipari was ejected after a non-call inside the final ten minutes of the game where UK was trailing by 9 points. Olivier Sarr made a layup to tie it at 61 to force the first overtime. Both teams struggled offensively in the first OT where they scored 7 points apiece. The second extra session started with a Sarr three and then back to back Dontaie Allen buckets helped UK get the win.
They improve to 2-6 on the year and 1-0 in the SEC. Kentucky hosts Vanderbilt on January 5th.
