Governor addresses video of New Year’s Eve party at The Greenbrier
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Monday during his press conference addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. Jim Justice addressed a controversial video that is circulating on social media of a New Year’s Eve celebration at The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
Gov. Justice called the controversy surrounding the video of a large group of party-goers a ‘political hit’. He described it as a slap at an employer who’s employing about 1,500 people.
The governor says he was not at The Greenbrier on New Year’s Eve. He told press he was at home in bed watching the ball drop.
Gov. Justice reiterated that protection protocols are in place at The Greenbrier.
“I will promise you to God above that The Greenbrier is absolutely following every protocol you can follow,” said Gov. Justice. “I surely don’t know what’s going on during the New Year’s Eve celebration when I’m lying in my bed at my house asleep.”
The governor did say Monday if The Greenbrier is “making mistakes”, then it deserves the negative outcome.
