4 teams heading to Sweet 16 in KY

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - The baseball and softball Sweet 16 tournaments begin this week in Kentucky and four local teams are still alive. Tuesday night, Raceland beat Ashland 11-1 to win the 16th Region boys crown. Lewis County defeated Ashland on the softball side 6-4 also.

From the 15th Region, the same school is sending teams to the quarterfinals. On Monday night, Johnson Central baseball beat Lawrence County 8-3 while the Golden Eagles softball team shut out Pikeville 10-0.

Here are the upcoming games for all four schools.

Saturday June 12th at Morehead State University

Baseball Semi-States

1:00 pm Johnson Central vs. Hazard

4:30 pm Whitley County vs. Raceland

Friday June 11th at John Cropp Stadium (University of Kentucky)

Softball Sweet 16

11:00 am Region 14 winner vs. Lewis County

2:00 pm Johnson Central vs. Boyle County
