GREENUP COUNTY, Ky (WSAZ) -- A landslide has blocked KY 3307 or Whetstone Road in Greenup County just south of US 23 at Greenup following torrential rains that swept across the region.

State highway crews are placing barricades on KY 3307 in advance of the slide area between the Treasure Cove Road and Whetstone Creek Road intersection at approximately the 3.5 mile marker.

Crews are mobilizing equipment and contractors to clear the slide, but it’s likely the highway will remain closed for several days.

Drivers needing to access locations on KY 3307 up to Treasure Cove Road should approach from the US 23 end.

For access up to Whetstone Creek Road, drivers may detour to the KY 2 end.

All traffic is being detoured via KY 2, but motorists should note that KY 2 is one lane with temporary signals just west of US 23 for an ongoing slide repair there.

A 5.4-mile long state highway, KY 3307 connects between KY 2 and US 23 near Greenup serving approximately 700 vehicles per day.
