MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) - A Morgantown man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly shoved a pregnant woman, causing her to fall on her stomach.

On Wednesday, officers went to a house on Glen Abbey Lane in Morgantown for a domestic violence call. The victim, who is 13 weeks pregnant with twins, told police that Simon Brett Mines pushed her, causing her to fall onto her stomach. Police say this act put the victim in extreme fear of having a miscarriage. Mines then allegedly picked the victim up by her underwear, causing them to tear. The victim put her cell-phone in her pants and Mines forcibly put his hands down her pants and took her cell-phone from her, according to the criminal complaint.

The victim left the house, but came back later to get medication for her son, police say. While back at the house, the victim says she noticed multiple items had been damaged and and her cell-phone was in the toilet covered in urine. Mines also allegedly shoved the victim again and made threats toward her.

Officers asked the victim questions listed on the Dangerousness-Lethality Information Form. Police say the victim answered “yes” to the following questions: the defendant has threatened to kill her or her children, he has tried to kill himself, he has tried to choke her, he follows or spies on her or leaves threatening messages, he is violently or constantly jealous or controls most of her daily activities, he has forced her to have sex when she did not wish to do so, she has left him or separated after living together, her concerns of his behavior increased in the past few months, she is concerned about his history with drugs or alcohol, she is worried about her own safety.

Mines, 31, has been charged with domestic battery, domestic assault, destruction of property, and depriving another person of emergency services. He is being held at North Central Regional Jail on a $5,000 bail.
