Risk factors for stroke

On average, every 40 seconds someone in the United States has a stroke. Although a stroke can happen to anyone at any time, the risk of having a stroke varies by race and ethnicity. The risk of having a first stroke is nearly twice as high for black Americans as for white Americans.
