CROSS LANES, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Firefighters say when they arrived at the hotel building at the Mardi Gras Casino & Resort Friday afternoon, heavy smoke was coming from the second floor.

The hotel building was evacuated, the Nitro Fire Chief confirms.

Fire crews have determined that the first and second floors of the hotel are clear, but are still investigating on the second floor for a potential electrical issue.

No injuries have been reported.

Fire crews say smoke was only reported at the hotel building on the property, not the casino.

“We spoke with management. We checked. They gave us rooms and amount of guests that were in here. We checked it. Everybody is assumed out at this time,” Chief of the Nitro Fire Department, Casey Mathes, said.
