One dead, one in custody following shooting in Boone County

UPDATE 12/31/21 @ 10:00 a.m.

WHITESVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A man was shot and killed inside a restaurant in Boone County Thursday evening, according to West Virginia State Police.

The shooting happened just after 11:30 p.m. at Terry’s Cafe in Whitesville, West Virginia.

West Virginia State Police say Kevin Dickens, 53, of Rock Creek and Jeremy Peters, 41, of Whitesville got into an argument that ended in gunfire.

According to troopers, Dickens is accused of shooting and killing Peters.

Following the shooting, Dickens left the restaurant and went to Raleigh County. He was later located and arrested by members of the WVSP Special Response Team.

Kevin Dickens has been charged with murder and is in Southwestern Regional Jail.

WHITESVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A man was shot and killed inside a restaurant in Boone County Thursday evening, according to West Virginia State Police.

The shooting happened just after 11:30 p.m. at Terry’s Cafe in Whitesville, West Virginia.

State Police say they do have a man in custody.

State Police say the man turned himself in Friday morning and is currently at the Whitesville detachment.

According to State Police, the shooting was an isolated incident.

WHITESVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) - One person is dead after a shooting late Thursday night, according to the Boone County Sheriff.

It happened in Whitesville about 11:30 Thursday night.

West Virginia State Police are handling the investigation.
