LOGAN, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A person has died in a fire that involved several homes along Pine Street in Logan County, the West Virginia State Fire Marshal confirms Thursday morning.

The fire was reported around 1 a.m. Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Robin Woody, 50, according to Logan Fire Chief Scott Beckett.

“It’s unreal. It really is unreal. It’s heartbreaking,” said Tina Cole. “This is just going to be so hard because my family is friends with his family.”

Fire crews say three homes suffered damage.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office expects crews and investigators to be on scene for most of the day.
