JACKSON, Ohio (WSAZ) - A man police described as “dangerous” Friday morning has been caught, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Jackson Police dispatchers tell WSAZ a search for Kenneth Sims began around 3 a.m. after a traffic stop on Main Street.

Deputies say Sims car was going left of center and he is accused of throwing a marijuana blunt on the ground in front of police.

According to the sheriff’s office, police had one handcuff on Sims when he took off running toward a wooded area.

Police searched the area between Huron and Route 32 to Route 139.

Ohio State Highway Patrol deployed a chopper, two K-9 officers and a drone to find Sims.

He was located and arrested around 8:20 a.m. Friday.

Law enforcement considered Sims armed and dangerous after locating a weapon inside the car. Sims also has a history of violent crimes, officials report.

Sims was taken to the hospital to be treated for cuts he suffered while in the woods.

The Jackson County Sheriff, Jackson Police Department, Wellston Police Department, Oak Hill Police Department, and OSHP all assisted in Sims arrest.

JACKSON, Ohio (WSAZ) - Jackson City schools are on a two hour delay Friday morning while Jackson City police officers search for a “dangerous suspect”.

Jackson, Ohio Mayor Randy Evans released a picture of the suspect on his Facebook page. Evans identified the suspect as Kenneth Sims, saying Sims is considered armed and dangerous.

Police are searching the area between Huron and Route 32 to Route 139.

Jackson Police dispatchers tell WSAZ it started around three Friday morning with a traffic stop on Main Street.

Police dispatch says the driver of a car with Michigan plates got out and ran from police. The dispatcher says police found a weapon in the car, and that the driver has a history of violent crime.

Police have been searching for the driver of the car on the ground and with a helicopter.
