HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Expect that sunshine to stay out there nearly the whole day, helping temperatures to the 80-degree mark this afternoon. Later this evening, we’ll be tracking a weak front sagging southward into our region from the Great Lakes. This one is moisture starved, and won’t be more than passing clouds for a lot of us, though our northernmost counties along US-50 may experience a brief sprinkle. This won’t qualify to end the rain-free streak we’ve been building, and we expect to get a couple more days into that streak before showers lurk again.

Thursday will have a fair amount of clouds to start the day, but eventually we’ll get back to yet more sunshine. Now in a northerly flow, temperatures will end up about 5-10° cooler than today, but in late May it’s often the ‘cooler’ days that are the best, as we’ll still be in the low 70s. In fact, we’ll stay in the 70s right into the Memorial Day holiday. At this point, Friday and Saturday look to end up rain-free, but showers still lurk for Sunday and Monday. Scattered as they may be, it will be something that the ground is begging for but most of us not-so-much. Looking ahead to June, we may well keep at the run to summer, with more 80s than not headed in.
