HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – With the holiday season getting into full swing, there’s no better time to give to your community.

Marshall Health Network Arena and the Huntington Salvation Army teamed up on Thursday night to accept donations during the Alabama concert.

Concertgoers dropped off toys, coats, shoes, and money to the Salvation Army for children in need.

Salvation Army Sgt. Jaclyn Johnson said she hopes events like these bring smiles to everyone.

“I want people, one, to go away feeling like they feel good about where their donation is going, that it is helping people, and I think we’re doing just that,” Johnson said. “Whether it’s the donation in the kettle, also the toy donations -- whatever it is -- giving back feels good and folks want to do that more, and I’m just thankful they want to do that.”

As a thank you, Marshall Health Network Arena provided vouchers for free concessions to people who donated.
