Traffic changes in effect for Marshall development project

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Temporary traffic pattern changes are in effect for the future site of Marshall University’s Institute for Cyber Security, the City of Huntington said.
According to the city, here’s what drivers should expect:
- 4th Avenue and Hal Greer Boulevard: Traffic will shift but remain open in both directions.
- 3 ½ Alley: Closed for the duration of construction.
- Bike lanes: Closed along 4th Avenue between 15th and 16th Streets, and along Hal Greer Boulevard between 4th and 3rd Avenues.
- Sidewalks: Closed on the sides immediately adjacent to the construction site.
- Lane shifts: Required to accommodate heavy equipment and a crane positioned within the roadway.
- Hal Greer Boulevard: Concrete islands, curbs, and pavement markings are being temporarily removed and will be fully restored to their current configuration once construction is complete.
The new traffic patterns are expected to stay in place through the summer of 2027, as construction on the 72,000 square-foot facility is projected to be complete.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we begin construction on this exciting new facility,” Toney Stroud, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Corporate Relations at Marshall, said in a press release. “These adjustments are necessary to keep the project on schedule and maintain a safe campus and community environment.”
