UPDATE 3/23/16 @ 3:55 p.m.

MASON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A 7-year-old girl who went missing in Mason County spent the night in the woods after she got lost chasing one of her dogs.

Deliah Mae Clark was found safe Wednesday morning not far from her home on Jeffers Ridge Road.

On Tuesday evening, Deliah went to her great grandfather's home across the street from her house to visit, but when she left no one could find her.

She told investigators that one of her two dogs got away from her, but when she went to chase after it, she got lost in the woods.

Search crews spent much of the night looking for Deliah without any sign of her or her two dogs.

Then, at 8 a.m. she was found walking up the road near her home.

Kenneth Jeffers, Deliah's great grandfather, was the last person to see her before her disappearance. He says he's so thankful for the happy ending.

"She lives up here. She's came across there, come in, and wanted to see me. I've been having to stay in and stuff. She done all that, and then all of a sudden she said 'I got to go home.' She come right out the door and I guess went that way. I don't know, I didn't get up or anything. She done it all the time. She hugged me and all that," Jeffers, Deliah's grandfather said.

Investigators say Deliah was taken to the hospital to be checked out. She has since been released.

No foul play is expected and no charges will be filed in the incident.
