Shooting leaves one dead, others injured during vehicle repossession

A man has been booked into the Lewis County Detention Center following a deadly shooting overnight.

Kentucky State Police brought in Michael E. Justice, 47, of Garrison around 8:45 Wednesday morning.

Justice is facing charges for murder and assault in the first degree.

Law enforcement says the charges stem from a shooting during a vehicle repossession.

According to court documents, Justice began firing a rifle hitting five individuals. One person died at the scene, three were taken to the hospital in critical condition and one victim was treated and released at the scene.

One person is dead and others injured after a shooting overnight in Garrison, Kentucky.

According to the Lewis County Herald, Lewis County Sheriff Johnny Bivens said it occurred about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on Kinney road.

Sheriff Bivens said the incident happened during a vehicle repossession.

He said multiple shots were fired.

Two people were airlifted to a hospital and a third person was taken by ambulance.

Sheriff Bivens says a suspect is in custody.

The names of those involved aren't yet being released.

An active shooting scene is being investigated in Lewis County, Kentucky.

It happened Wednesday morning in the Garrison area.

Kentucky State Police confirms to WSAZ that Kinney Road near State Route 10 is closed due to the shooting.

No word yet on whether anyone is injured.

KSP said troopers, along with the Lewis County Sheriff's office and the Vanceburg Police Department, are involved in an active police investigation and that information will be released later this morning.

Fire departments from Garrison V.F.D. and Oak V.F.D. are also assisting.

WSAZ has a crew at the scene gathering information.
