Boat stolen out of yard; family offering reward
A family is baffled that a rather large item turned up missing.
A boat was stolen out of a yard in Greenup County on Monday afternoon.
Tasha May's father died unexpectedly in November of 2016.
The boat was meant to be enjoyed in his retirement.
"It was my dad's prized possession," she said. "He worked hard at the refinery for 34 years, and that was his big retirement gift for himself."
Instead it was left to his son in his will.
Just a few days after going through the one-year-anniversary of their father's death, the boat was stolen out of his son's driveway in the Low Gap area of Argillite.
"It was still attached to his truck parked in his yard," May said. "They cut the lock off it."
May says the memories associated with the craft make the disappearance that much more difficult.
"It's not about the money," she said. "I don't care what the boat is valued at. None of us care what it's valued at. The memories that we shared with my dad on it, the sentimental value that it holds to our family that it would hold to nobody else in the world, that's what matters."
The family is offering a reward of $2,500 to anyone with information that leads to an arrest and the return of the boat intact.
