UPDATE: Troopers identify body found in the Kanawha River

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 9/26/18 @ 6:30 a.m.
A body found in the Kanawha River has now been identified.

West Virginia State Police have identified the man as Corey Dotson, 28, of Cabin Creek.

Troopers found his body in the Kanawha River near the Dupont Plant in Belle on Friday, September 21 around 7 p.m.

According to troopers, Dotson had been entered in their system as a missing a person on Tuesday, September 18.



UPDATE 9/24/18 @ 11:20 a.m.
West Virginia State Police troopers are investigating a body that was found Friday evening in the Belle area.

When WSAZ reached out for an update on the investigation Monday, troopers said they are waiting for an autopsy before they release the person's identity.

The body was found in the Kanawha River near the Dupont plant according to WVSP. It happened around 7 p.m. Friday.

Investigators do not believe foul play is involved.
