Man dies after driving into high water

GALLIA COUNTY, OHIO (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 2/15/20 @ 6:15 a.m.
An Ohio man has died after driving into high water on Friday night.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says Ronald Harvey, 73, of Ironton, drove into high water around 10:45 p.m. on State Route 141 in Gallia County.

Harvey exited his car and was overcome by rushing water, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road remained closed for about three hours near milepost 6. The Gallia County Coroner's Office and Gallia County EMS assisted Highway Patrol.

The incident remains under investigation.

Ohio Highway Patrol Troopers and fire department members are on the scene of a water rescue late Friday night into early Saturday morning.

Dispatchers tell WSAZ that there is a vehicle in the water and they believe someone was near the vehicle and they are trying to look for the person.

This is happening near State Route 141 and German Ridge Road.
