As a part of the Hatfield McCoy Heritage days weekend, many gathered at the McCoy Well site.

Travis Williams carved a statue of Randolph McCoy out of cedar with a chainsaw.

Starting with an 8-foot blank log, it took Williams more than one month to carve it.

Williams says it is an honor to be able to create the historical piece.

"It's very exciting for me. This is the first time that on this scale that I've done anything like this," said Williams.

The statue weighs around 500lbs.

Williams says he hopes he can do more statues like this in the future.
