City levy passes in Nitro

NITRO, W.Va. (WSAZ)- A levy, guaranteeing money to important projects in Nitro, has passed.

Polls closed Saturday evening and a short time later city officials announced the levy passed with overwhelming support.

The levy has been in place for several years with money generated going towards recreation, street lights, road maintenance, library funds along with first responders wages.

Officials say they will officially canvas on March 22 to make the results of the vote official.
