CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Spring cleaning is right around the corner for many, including some communities in our region.
Every Saturday in April, the city of Charleston will be taking part in the “Capital City Team Up to Clean Up” event. Among the projects will be litter collection, landscaping, fence painting and creation of public art.
According to a release from Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin’s office, local businesses, organizations and community members are encouraged to participate. The event is in conjunction with the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan’s Make It Shine Program.
The cleanup will take place from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. at the following dates and places:
- April 6: East End – meet at the Morris Street parking lot behind Appalachian Power Park
- April 13: Kanawha City – meet at City National Bank
- April 20: North Charleston and West Side – meet at the Farmer’s Market
- April 27: South Hills – meet at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church
Residents and organizations are encouraged to register to participate in the cleanup at charlestonwv.gov/cleanup or by calling 304-348-8000 ext. 260.
