UPDATE: Victim identified in U.S. 60 crash in Carter County, Ky.; roadway back open

UPDATE 3/11/17 @ 2:00 a.m.

CARTER COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- The woman killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 60 in Carter County Friday has been identified.

Shelly Richards, 59, of Grayson, died in the crash according to the Carter County deputy coroner.

The crash happened between Grayson and Olive Hill, Kentucky State Police say. It happened just after 6 p.m. in the Thunder Mountain area.

The roadway re-opened early Saturday morning.

Troopers say a red Honda Element was headed east and a white Toyota Highlander was traveling west when they collided.

The driver of the Honda Element was Richards. No one else was in that SUV according to investigators.

Two people were in the Highlander, including one person who was flown to the hospital. The other person was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Troopers say both of those people's injuries are serious, but not life-threatening.

The deputy coroner says Richards' body is being sent to Frankfort for an autopsy.

The roadway remains closed, but it is expected to reopen around midnight.

CARTER COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- U.S. 60 is closed in both directions between Grayson and Olive Hill after a two-vehicle crash Friday evening, Carter County 911 dispatchers say.

It happened just after 6 p.m. in the Thunder Mountain area.

Injuries are involved, but there is no word on the extent.
