UPDATE: Man shot in the leg while walking home

UPDATE 3/22/2017 @ 7:00 a.m.

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (WSAZ) --Authorities are searching for a suspect after a man was shot while walking home late Tuesday night.

West Virginia State Police say the victim told them he was shot in the leg around 10 p.m. while walking on a path to his home on Smith Street.

Troopers say the victim pounded on his uncle's apartment door saying he had been shot.

The victim told investigators he did not see the person who shot him on the walking path. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers say they are working to identify the shooter at this time.

The Cabell County Sheriff's Department is also assisting the investigation.

The call came in just after 10:00 p.m. on Smith Street in Huntington.
