UPDATE 11/14/17 @ 10:25 p.m.

A man who we reported about last month after he said he was shot with a stray arrow is back in the news.

Vincent Thompson, who said he was out working on a farm when he was shot by a rogue arrow, lied about the wound, according to deputies. They say it appears that it was self-inflicted.

Thompson is wanted for reporting a false emergency.

If you see him, you are asked to call 911.

UPDATE 10/24/17 @ 12:05 a.m.

A man is thankful to be alive after being shot in the leg by a stray arrow.

It happened Monday while Vincent Thompson was working on private property in a heavily-wooded area of northern Roane County.

Thompson helps a family run their farm on Peter Cave Road, about ten miles north of Spencer.

Thompson says he was working at the farm's chicken coop when he heard a strange noise coming out of the trees.

"I heard something move and when I heard it move, I felt something pierce my leg," Thompson said. "When I looked down it was an arrow, I yelled and kept yelling and nobody answered back. As I was walking back to the house, I heard a vehicle pulling off."

The area is clearly posted as private property. It's out-of-bounds for hunters. But Thompson said there are a lot of deer in the area.

Investigators with the Roane County Sheriff's Office say people could very well have been hunting from the roadway, possibly from out of the window of a car.

Thompson says he ended up pulling the arrow out of his leg by himself.

Despite the pain, he says it could've been much worse, saying that he or one of the family members who live on the farm could've been hit and killed.

He said if anyone was responsible, they need to be caught before any more people are hurt.

"The next time it happens somebody may die," Thompson said. "It might not even be this farm, it might be the farm up the road. It could be other people, it could be somebody's child with a white t-shirt running across a field."

Deputies say the incident happened at about 2:20 Monday afternoon.

If you know anything about who may be responsible, you're asked to give the Roane County Sheriff's Office a call at 304-927-2540.

ORIGINAL STORY 10/23/17 @ 5:05 p.m.

Deputies are asking for the public's help after a man was shot in the lower leg by an arrow while walking on his property.

The incident happened in the 400 block of Peter's Cave Road just after 2 p.m. Monday.

The man was near a right-of-way that leads to a roadway.

Roane County deputies say it is possible that people were hunting near the road and shot in the direction of the house, hitting the man in the leg.

If you have any information, you are asked to call the Roane County Sheriff's Department.
