HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) — UPDATE 12/8/19 @ 6:15 p.m.
A man wanted in connection to a shooting Sunday in Huntington has been arrested.
Police Chief Hank Dial tells WSAZ.com Kevin Mann was arrested Sunday evening on Short Street in Guyandotte.
According to the criminal complaint, Mann was a guest at the home along West 5th Avenue. Officers say Mann accused the victim of stealing his money, then proceeded to punch her in the face - twice and kick her in the lower back. Police say Mann then told the victim he was going to kill her, picked up a revolver and shot her one time in the left side of her body.
The woman ran to a nearby neighbor's home afterwards to get help.
"The lady next door came knocking on my door and said she was shot and I called 911," said the neighbor who asked to remain anonymous.
The neighbor says nothing like this has ever happened in their area and it makes him worried about his property value.
"This if the first time we've had anything like this but it's hard any time you get (something like this), it's just something that spreads. People don't want to come in where there's a lot of shootings."
Police Chief Hank Dial says the victim injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
Deputies assisted HPD in Mann's arrest.
Mann is now facing charges including malicious or unlawful assault.
