Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg visits the area
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A special visitor with a well-known name made his way to the Kanawha Valley during the weekend.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was in West Virginia, as well as Kentucky, over the weekend.
It was all part of Zuckerberg’s "year of travel" challenge. He and his wife dined at the Bluegrass Kitchen in Charleston.
"We were surprised and delighted to have Mark Zuckerberg and wife Pricilla Chan stop in for brunch,” said Keeley Steele, owner of the Bluegrass Kitchen. “They enjoyed their meal uninterrupted and everybody in his group seemed happy. He left a nice tip and hit the road."
The couple also talked to students in Kentucky who are using tools being built at the Chan-Zuckerburg initiative that help students learn coding.
