UPDATE: Two women killed in Boone County accident; names released

BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 11/16/18 @ 6:05 p.m.
The names of two women killed Thursday in a three-vehicle crash involving an ambulance have been released.

Their names are Donna Workman, 70, and Nola Niday, 52, both of Gordon, according to Boone County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Chad Barker.

The crash happened just before 5 p.m. Thursday on Lens Creek Road in the Hernshaw community.

Three people in the ambulance were taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Two people are dead after an accident on Lens Creek Road in the Hernshaw community in Boone County.

Boone County Sheriff's Department deputies say it happened just before 5 p.m. Thursday. Deputies say a car traveling southbound lost control and crossed the center lines.

Deputies say three vehicles with seven people were involved in the accident.

One of the vehicles was a Whitesville ambulance. Deputies say the three people in the ambulance were transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons, but they are expected to be OK.

Deputies are still investigating the crash. Chief Deputy Chad Barker said, "Roads are slick. It's not icy, you know, it's just slick from the weather. Just slow down and take your time."

Barker said, other than weather, speed may have been a factor in the crash, along with other conditions inside the vehicle.

The accident also caused major traffic delays on Lens Creek Road. The road reopened just before 7:30 p.m.

Two people are dead after an accident on Lens Creek Road in the Hernshaw community.

The accident was reported at 4:40 p.m.

According to the Boone County Sheriff's Department, three vehicles with seven people were involved in the accident.

One of the vehicles is a Whitesville ambulance.

Boone County Deputies are on the scene investigating and have not contacted the families of the victims.

It is not clear if there are any other injuries at this time.

Traffic is backed-up for quite a way on Lens Creek Road near Ashford-Nellis Road as the wreck is cleaned up.
