UPDATE: Name released in Meigs County fatal fire

UPDATE 2/9/18 @ 4:50 p.m.

We now know the name of the person killed in a fire.

The Meigs County sheriff tells us Oscar Wilson, 61, died after a fire broke out inside his camper Thursday morning.

It happened on state Route 325 near Danville.

Investigators tell WSAZ that Wilson died from smoke inhalation.

The cause of fire is still undetermined by the state fire marshal’s office, but there were several electric heaters on inside the camper at the time to help heat it.


ORIGINAL STORY

One person has been killed after a camper fire in Meigs County Thursday.

According to the Meigs County Sheriff, the call came in around 5:45 on SR 325 near Danville. It was called in by a nearby neighbor.

The victim has not yet been identified.

There was no one else inside the camper.

There is no word on what caused the fire.

Salem and Rutland Fire Departments were on scene battling the flames.

The State Fire Marshal's Office is responding to the scene, along with the Meigs County Sheriff's Office.
