Fire damages mobile home, claims family pet

PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) – Although a family dog lost its life in a Pike County mobile home fire, the family managed to make it out safely, firefighters say.

The fire was reported around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 2200 block of Island Creek Road, according to the Island Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

Firefighters brought the fire under control within 45 minutes. They were assisted at the scene by the American Red Cross, AEP and Mountain Water.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
