UPDATE | Cedar Grove house fire sends one to the hospital

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE 10/8/19 @ 5:50 p.m.
One person was taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon following a house fire in Cedar Grove, firefighters say.

A fire at an A-frame home in the 100 block of Mariner Lane in Cedar Grove, West Virginia, sent one person to the hospital.

It happened at an A-frame in the 100 block of Mariner Lane. That home was destroyed, firefighters said.

The victim's injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Wanda Bass, the property owner, lives nearby and said her son was working to fix up the property.

"I got a call that it was on fire and the A-frame was on fire," Bass said. "So I ran outside and I looked up, and it was flames coming out and it was very smoky."

When crews arrived, they thought someone may be trapped inside but the victim was located on the property outside.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
